Solid Motor Mounts for $10 - Submitted by KeWLKaT Materials Needed: - Ratchet with 14mm socket - 14mm wrench (airtools would help though) - Windshield Urethane (at winshield repair shops) - Tape Disclaimer: Although this mod helps with wheel hop, it adds vibration to the car in general, I advise you to do one mount first, drive and see if you can handle it, and then do the other one. 1. Undo the mount(s) and clean their inside rubbery part. ![]() ![]() 2. Tape up one side of the mount as shown in the pic, using multiple layers so it'll be snug and not let the urethane seep through. I used electrical tape, it worked wonderfuly. ![]() 3. Turn the mount around, grab your tube of urethane and start filling the mount up. Do your best to not let any air bubbles form, because they weaken the structure of course. ![]() ![]() LET IT CURE. For a good 24-48 hours, depending on what urethane you have. Or else, as soon as your engine torques a bit, all the non-cured urethane will seep through the sides... Take your time and do it right. Installation is the reverse of removal, using the same bolts. Torque them to spec. Enjoy your new motor mounts that cost you 10$ instead of the KSpec 200$ inserts that do the same job. Click here to discuss this Do It Yourself Guide. |
