Clutch Spring/Slave Cyliner Modification - Submitted by Fordfasterr

1. Remove the stock airbox. Remove the bottom half of the filter box. Battery removal not needed. This is the slave cylinder:

2. Here is the screw you have to remove. Right next to that is the bleeder valve. In this pic you can see the copper gasket that seals the banjo fitting, the spring and restrictor plate are about one inch inside of the slave cylinder inside of the hole where the screw is located.

3. Use a socket with six inch extension and slip it in there and then unscrew it. Get some rags because it will be messy, let all of the old fluid drain out.

4. Using a magnetic screwdriver put near the hole in the back of the slave cylinder, the spring will then come out with the restrictor plate. They are stuck together.

5. Reassemble everything. Be sure to reuse the same brass washer that was in there and be sure to put it back in the same orientation as it was when you removed it. Otherwise you may spring a leak and your clutch release wont work.

6. With the help of a friend, bleed the fluid line until its all back to normal. You will need a bottle of dot 3 brake fluid or hydraulic clutch fluid to refill it.

Additional info: Bleeding the clutch fluid line.

1. Fill the resovior with fluid.

2. Have someone pump the clutch pedal 3 or 4 times just to get it moving.

3. Have them press down slowly on the clutch pedal and HOLD IT DOWN. Then slightly open the bleeder valve and air and fluid will squirt out.

4. Close the bleeder valve.

5. Let go of the clutch pedal. Have them squeeze it down again, repeat the valve opening and let it spew out the air bubbles.

6. Check the resovoir. It should have lost some fluid as it flilled the line. Now refill it again and start over.

7. Repeat until NO MORE air bubbles come out of the bleeder valve.
