Josh K Hyundai Elantra GLS Sedan How long have you owned your Elantra? I've had my XD for about a year and a half now. Is there anything special, unique, or different concerning the history of your Elantra? Well I originally bought it after my other car was rear ended by an uninsured driver. My other car was my daily driver, but I show that car and have put a ton of money into it. Getting hit in addition to having to go into every driveway sideways, and then the gas prices (other car is a V8 and can only use 91 or higher) made me really want to start looking for a daily driver. A deal came along that I couldn't pass up on the Elantra and I took it. Honestly, what was your intention when you bought your Elantra? My mantra when I got the Elantra (hey, that rhymes) was, "This is my daily driver; I'm not going to spend ANY money on this car." I was even thinking about getting a personalized plate that said "Hooptee" and getting some spinner hubcaps...yeah that lasted about a week. What was your intention after discovering EXD (or other Hyundai forums)? I was already somewhat addicted to automotive forums and the modder inside me compelled me to see if any Hyundai Performance forums existed. I originally found HP.com and was on there for a while, but when I found EXD, I instantly knew where I would be spending most of my time. Aside from it only focusing on my particular model of car, the people here are so much friendlier and more helpful than on other forums. After spending some time on here and seeing all of the cool things people were doing with Elantras, I began to see it in a whole different light and caught the XD Modding Bug...bad. In one word describe the style of your Elantra. Umm...one word...well it's small and white so I want to say "Rice," but I've tried so hard to not make it rice...Barley, maybe? How about "understated?" Who helped modify your Elantra? Well aside from everyone on EXD, nobody. I learned a lot by doing everything myself. What do you like most about your Elantra? I love that the Elantra doesn't suffer from the rice disease that plagues a lot of other Asian compacts. It's pretty tough for me to see a "hooked up" Civic or similar car without it looking ricey to me. The Elantra, on the other hand has a much sportier, classier look - almost European in a way. I love when people look at my car and say, "Wow, that's a Hyundai?" What do you like least about your Elantra? The transmission. What modification is next for your Elantra? I'm not sure. I'm debating on whether or not to do anything else to the outside or leave it cool yet understated. Right now I guess I'm deciding between heated seats or something to make it go faster. On a scale from 0-10, how would you rate your Elantra? I'd give it an 8. It's been relatively trouble free and a lot of fun to drive. Most commonly, what do people say about your Elantra? They can't believe it's a Hyundai. I can't even really call it my Hooptee because it's nicer than a lot of people's "nice cars." Who is allowed to drive your Elantra? I drive it, I taught my little sister how to drive in it, and my girlfriend drives it occasionally. What is the most outrageous thing you have wanted to do to your car that you have not been able to do? Engine work and a turbo. My friend owns a performance shop that just came up with a kick ass supercharger system that\'s going on my Benz. It will be at SEMA this year with about 420 RWHP. He loves my Hyundai and wants to make it haul ass but right now I just can\'t justify spending that much money - I\'d be doubling the value of the car. What kind of car did you own (or drive) before your Elantra? My first car was a Saleen Mustang Convertible. It was the first year they made it with the 4.6L motor and there weren't a lot of aftermarket parts out for it yeat so in the beginning it was probably about as fast as my XD. After that I bought a Mercedes CLK430, which I still have and love. The XD was purchased as a daily driver. Disclaimer - I've worked in the entertainment industry since I was really young; my parents did not pay for any of my vehicles or expenses. Realistically, what kind of car is next? Well right now I'm buying a house so I'm really not sure. I wanted to get an SL55 but I see way too many of them in LA now. I always like having something that isn't that common (Like a hooked up XD!). Maybe I'll just hold out a for a little bit and get a Bentley Continental GT. I better start hustlin'.
