ElantraXD - Car of the Month

04 elantra cvvt

2004 Hyundai Elantra GLS Sedan

How long have you owned your Elantra?

3 Years, 4 Months.

Is there anything special, unique, or different concerning the history of your Elantra?

This was the first of two Elantras that I bought... on the same day.

Honestly, what was your intention when you bought your Elantra?

It was primarily a "gas mileage" car to get me to and from work. After I realized how much fun (and cheaper) it was to drive I sold the Camaro.

What was your intention after discovering EXD (or other Hyundai forums)?

To find people with common interests. And also learn the tricks to modding a four cylinder. (This is the first one I have ever owned.)

In one word describe the style of your Elantra.

Unique.

Who helped modify your Elantra?

Myself, my friend Ryan, and of course my wife - money.

What do you like most about your Elantra?

The fact that I still get people that think Hyundais are junk, and when I show them the car they say, "That's a Hyundai??" That and the color.

What do you like least about your Elantra?

It has four doors.

What modification is next for your Elantra?

An A-Pillar pod with Auto Meter gauges (oil pressure and voltage).

On a scale from 0-10, how would you rate your Elantra?

9. I sell auto parts for a living, and I see how much trouble people have with the other imports... Honda, Toyota, and so on. Then I realize that I just don't have those problems with my car.

Most commonly, what do people say about your Elantra?

"That's a Hyundai?" or "When did they start making Elantras with that grill?"

Who is allowed to drive your Elantra?

Me. My wife can't drive a standard.

What is the most outrageous thing you have wanted to do to your car that you have not been able to do?

Aside from the Roadruns Lip, I would have to say forced induction.

What kind of car did you own (or drive) before your Elantra?

1992 Chevrolet Camaro. The car had been restored from top to bottom, and my wallet felt it. Between gas, tires, and insurance, I couldn't keep it on the road. This car is much more practical for the driving that I do.

Realistically, what kind of car is next?

Probably a Tiburon. I am waiting for the new body style to come out. It is supposed to be rear drive and 300+ HP. We'll see.
