Monster 2004 Hyundai Elantra GT Hatchback How long have you owned your Elantra? I have owned my Elantra since March 28th 2005, two years ago. Is there anything special, unique, or different concerning the history of your Elantra? This car is related to my life. I bought it as a used car in Laval, Quebec. First, as new it's been sold in Barrie Ontario, the city I am studying (650 km from there). Second, the previous owner stopped making payments on it, the bank took it back. Last fall I worked for GMAC (financial company of General Motors) as a credit administrator, I was calling people that donÕt pay their account. It's so funny. Third, the number on my licence plate is also the name of a strippers club in Montreal. Honestly, what was your intention when you bought your Elantra? Having a nice, reliable and fun to drive car. I wanted to buy a well equipped car for an affordable price; the Elantra was the best value for my money.
What was your intention after discovering EXD (or other Hyundai forums)? I wanted to discover how our cars are made, what kind of parts exist for us, having people to help me to fix problems and get expertise from others members. I was also interested to see what others members did with their cars. In one word describe the style of your Elantra. Class. Who helped modify your Elantra? My friend KeWLKaT from EXD gave me ideas about what to buy to modify my car but I try to do everything by myself or with help from my father.
What do you like most about your Elantra? The style. It is the only car of its category that is not similar looking to another. It is also a fun to drive car because it is modified. What do you like least about your Elantra? Fuel consumption, it's too high on highway but OK on city driving. The feeling of the steering wheel could be better; I would prefer something like the Mazda3, more sensible and quicker response. I personally think there are missing some technologies on our cars as Electronic TB control, coil on plug, timing chain and a WELL calibrated CVVT. What modification is next for your Elantra? I do not invest more money on my car; I like it the way it is now. Maybe I will change the bushings on the transmission or little things like this. I will change parts for better one only if it's broken.
On a scale from 0-10, how would you rate your Elantra? 7.5. Improve the weaknesses mentioned and it would get a perfect score. Most commonly, what do people say about your Elantra? "Is that a Hyundai? Really?" or "Nice looking car!" and "From the rear it looks like a Saab!" Who is allowed to drive your Elantra? Me and a few close friends only. What is the most outrageous thing you have wanted to do to your car that you have not been able to do? Installing a turbo on my engine. I did not do that because I am travelling a lot for my studies and needed a reliable setup.
What kind of car did you own (or drive) before your Elantra? Another Elantra a black 01 GLS with an automatic transmission. Realistically, what kind of car is next? I hesitate between some cars, in a few years I maybe looking for a used Lexus IS350, an Acura TL or an Infiniti G35. If I don't have enough money I will probably buy a Hyundai Sonata or a Nissan Altima. I want to get a bigger car and a powerful V6 engine.
