NY2002ElantraGT 2002 Hyundai Elantra GT Hatchback How long have you owned your Elantra? I've owned this XD for just over 1 year. I bought it in August 2005 with 65K miles. Is there anything special, unique, or different concerning the history of your Elantra? Not really this one, but I bought it after I crashed an '01 XD hatch. Honestly, what was your intention when you bought your Elantra? When I bought an '01 XD hatchback in the summer of 2004 my intetions were to get a reliable safe car that I felt comfortable with my daughter in the back seat. Then after I fell asleep at the wheel (by myself), totaled it and walked away without a scratch, I had to buy the same car. What was your intention after discovering EXD (or other Hyundai forums)? Originally it was to see what others are doing, and to ask for basic help on fixing things. This then turned into a modding addiction. In one word describe the style of your Elantra. Surfmobile. Who helped modify your Elantra? ME, MYSELF, and I! Haha, I would say every member who's answered my help posts when im stuck trying something, as well members who posted DIYs on certain mods. Most of the work on my car wouldn't be possible without my friend Jaime's lift and every tool known to man! What do you like most about your Elantra? My drop, it made my car look more agressive, and almost fast while its parked. It's a 1.75" front and rear, but with the front lip spoiler, your lookin at a 4" clearance. What do you like least about your Elantra? I would say the lack of power, most will agree. My car looks fast but we all know its not. Haha. What modification is next for your Elantra? Next will be hopefully getting some stuff out of my garage. I have a red LED ground effects kit waiting to go on, I also have some paint for the dash, more tinted vinyl for reverse lights and side markers, and lastly black vinyl for the exterior door handles. On a scale from 0-10, how would you rate your Elantra? I would say 7. After I add a Turbo or S/C, and add a body kit with a fresh coat of paint, I would still only give it an 8. Most commonly, what do people say about your Elantra? "What kind of car is that?" or "Is that a Hyundai?" Haha. Then when they hear it they're like "WOW, thats the loudest Hyundai I've ever heard." Who is allowed to drive your Elantra? Me, Me and Me. Seriously, I think my dad drove it a couple of times when I was out at sea for a few months, but he just drove it around the block a couple of times. What is the most outrageous thing you have wanted to do to your car that you have not been able to do? I want Lambo doors in the front and suicide doors in the rear. All with shaved door handles and poppers. I know it's never going to happen, too much money for a slow car. What kind of car did you own (or drive) before your Elantra? Well before this was an '01 Elantra GT Hatch in the dark red. Before I drove that was a 1990 VW Jetta (2 door Vento) with 180k miles, but was really quick. Realistically, what kind of car is next? Im not getting rid of my XD for a while. After I graduate college I'll probably end up in Tib, Dodge Charger, or who knows depending on the job I get maybe an EVO! Haha.
