2005 Hyundai Elantra GLS Hatchback

How long have you owned your Elantra?

Since August of 2005. It's now officially 1 year old!

Is there anything special, unique, or different concerning the history of your Elantra?

Not really. It's been good to me so far other than the usual Elantra problems (warped rotors, crap tires and wiper blades, etc).

Honestly, what was your intention when you bought your Elantra?

To have a reliable daily driver that was easy on gas and was fairly cheap.

What was your intention after discovering EXD (or other Hyundai forums)?

To do as much to my car as possible. I got bit BAD by the old mod bug. My intent after discovering my local SCCA chapter was to create a quick Elantra for autocrossing.

In one word describe the style of your Elantra.

Agile.

Who helped modify your Elantra?

Jason and myself. Also my wife because she lets me spend the money and time to do it all.

What do you like most about your Elantra?

It's potential. I'm one of those people that sees a lot instead of a little potential in these cars. (Admin note: Good answer)

What do you like least about your Elantra?

The clutch! I hate how late it engages. It honestly annoys me more then that lack of power (which isn't TOO bad. After the Ksports my car's quicker since it puts power down more efficiently now).

What modification is next for your Elantra?

TIRES!

The stock michelin's are CRAP and I can't be any quicker in my autocross class (STS) w/out upgrading my rubber. I have at least 3-4 seconds to gain by buying some 205/50/R15 Falken RT-615's.

On a scale from 0-10, how would you rate your Elantra?

7, it's great how it is now but there's still room for improvement.

Most commonly, what do people say about your Elantra?

Nothing really, it most often goes un-noticed since afterall....it's an Elantra.

Who is allowed to drive your Elantra?

Myself, Jason and other driver's that I consider good enough. It's always good to have a better driver take your car for a run to compare times and thoughts.

What is the most outrageous thing you have wanted to do to your car that you have not been able to do?

A supercharger and LSD. That would move me to FSP and the car would be seriously quick it just costs waayyy too much money.

What kind of car did you own (or drive) before your Elantra?

A 1999 VW Passat 1.8T Sedan. It was nothing but problems and during the 8months that I owned it it was in and out of the shop the entire time. Too expensive to own and maintain.

Realistically, what kind of car is next?

I'd love a factory turbo such as an Evo or STi but honestly I see my self keeping my Elantra for a good long time.
