Last Friday I went to drop my car off to get the dents taken out of my hood, originally it was 190 for the whole car. Evan shot me 125 since that was the dent that would take the most work. I paid the guy up front as he needed. I know, this sounded stupid, but everyone I talked to said he was the best. Back to the story, I go back to about 4 hours later to pick it up. As I go to look at the hood, the dent form the bottle has not even been touched, and there are even more small dings in my hood. Im furious, so I find the guy and he tells me he made the dents at an attempt to get the other one out caused by the bottle. He tells me he had to get on the hood in order to "attempt" to get the most noticable one out. So, now I'm out 190 dollars and he wants to charge me more money to take the ones he caused out. After all this, there are about 4 other small dents in my hood on top of the two original. It looks like **** and Im pissed about it. I work hard for my money and so do other people, I pay for a service and expect decent service in return. I guess I'm to trusting of poeple. :(

take his *** to court. thats bull****. i know you wouldnt be in the position if it wasnt for me, but that sucks he "had to get on the hood" to get the other ones out. was it a business or a guy who you heard by word of mouth? let him know if he doesnt fix it youre going to small claims court. itll work. if he wants to go to court, do it. you will get paid + he'll have to pay court cost + any legal fees you incur (sp?)

Small Claims, dude. I did it when I got ripped off doing a web site. It takes forever, and I still didn't get paid and had to send the sheriff after the witch, but I got my money. Just make sure you document -everything-.

On top of getting your money back, you'll ruin his credit record. Which is satisfying. Does anyone have any "before" photos from the meet?

That hurts man!
Personally I would take his *** to court too.
Please don't ever pay for services like this, in advance again! Although I'm SURE you have learnt that lesson now.
Try speaking to the owner or manager of the shop.

I was the one that took a picture of the hood, the bottle dent is noticably the ONLY one there, i'll get my camera now!

Ok, here's the pic, not sure if it will help you, but good luck.

It might be a little hard to prove that's from the same car.

That could be a dent on a random piece of sheet metal for all I know ;)

(Just playing devil's advocate)

Who are the dent people? j/k

I've been fortunate enough to have only one small dent on my car. I tried the Ding King on it, but that didn't help anything.

I've taken someone to small claims court before too. And I lost. But if you come prepared you could win... if it's worth it to you.

how did you lose?

It was my Dad and I who sued an A/C repair shop for destroying my old Mustang's engine (long story).

We lost because of something stupid. The claim was entered under my Dad's name, even though the title to the car was in my name. Apparently, it's a technicality. We got about 5 minutes into it in front of the judge and it was dismissed based on that. On top of that the judge said that it would've been difficult to win since we were lacking proof and had mostly circumstantial evidence.

It was worth a shot. But since we lost I had to buy a used engine and had it transplanted for a grand total of $1,800 out of my pocket. Since then I've had problems trusting automotive repair shops and do a lot more of the work myself.

Bottle dent....bottle dent....did someone hit your car with a bottle? Sorry if I missed the story, or if I'm way off, but I'd get the guy that did the damage in the first place. Anywho...

we have BBB up here (better business bureau), there must be something equivalent to that down there. If you don't wanna bother with the guy, or go to court or just let it be and go elsewhere you can still get him and his business in trouble by complaining and getting it shut down if he's had other complaints, prior history or surprisingly -doesn't even have a license or is qualified to do the work. In the very least he won't be able to do that sort of thing to anyone again and he'll have a record too. Small claims court is alot of work, but if you have things documented and your story is pretty reasonable, it would be worth it. Cash up front, and his flimsy dealings...doesn't sound good. Who gets on top of a car to get a dent out? Wouldn't that have the potential of creating more....sounds right to me. I took a collections claims course for work, and you'd be surprised how EASY it is to get money back or the equivalent (like a watch or something).

I already paid him the $ to get the dent out of the car, no need to worry about that. i told him get an estimate and ill pay it, sent him the $, and now the dip**** doing the work messed up the hood more

Update, the BBB doesnt do dick for us down here, they are more of a mediator then anyhting else. Im slated to go to court on the 23rd for small claims. I got an estimate, and its cheaper at this point to get a new hood. Which will be about 600 after its bought and painted. Wish me luck, Im going with a friends dad who is a lawyer, hes doing it pro bono. :)

This is in by no means Evans fault, he was totally cool about it. He would be the last person on the planet I would be pissed off by.
