View Full Version : Poll: Where will the next Texas meet be?
YOUR VOTE DOES NOT MATTER (poll is closed)
^^ lol always wanted to say that..
I would like to please request that only Texas elantra owners vote on this poll. The reason being is that it will give us an accurate measure of where people are willing to drive to. Thanks everyone!
Where should we hold the meet for October 1st? I know i'm starting the thread early, very early in fact, but it'll help us be completely prepared for 10/1
Please note: this is a Multiple Choice poll. Whichever of the places listed you think you would be able to drive to without much hassle, vote for that. That way, whichever one has the majority we can pick instead of having 2 or 3 people per choice.
i voted for all, mainly because all of them sound like a good place to meet up. and like tharptroy said in another thread, we can always have our own dfw meet at a later date.
update:
the houston count will be one less than what is shown. seems like people don't read wtf it says. i have bolded it and underlined it in my previous post.
also, i would like to add in that just because a place wins does not necessarily mean that we will have it there. many other factors, such as things to do, will affect the place. the poll is just for priority purposes.
thanks, and keep voting kids
here is a link to the discussion thread just in case any texas people have missed it http://www.elantraxd.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10184

Im down for houston!!!!!
oh come on people.. dont be a bunch of pansies and vote for just one place. when other people are willing to make an effort to get to somplace else, you should too.
^^ not directed to anyone specific. just looking at the voting trend.

I voted for only Austin. My reason is because I have been to most of the other cities listed for meets. :) It would be a nice to do something different.

I will be moving to Texas by the end of the month I think I may be able to make the meet, but am not sure. We are moving from Maryland to Rockport, Texas (near Courpous Chritie (sp)).
alright cool. so at this time the following cities are tied for the win: waco, austin, houston
and the following are tied for losing: dallas, ennis
m*th*r f*ckr ill have to drive :(
//edit
personally, i'd much rather drive to austin than houston. so i dont feel too bad about austin, houston's kind of out of the pic for me even though i voted for houston. if it comes down to it, i'll drive, other than that i wont
bump 4 tx ppl. off to bed kids.

houston only has 3 votes because "exsailor" isnt from houston. he's from canada. so i have to throw out his vote. seems like people dont know how to read that it is a TX ONLY vote. Unless you're gonna drive to texas to attend the meet, dont vote.
it would be nice to go to that though, phiber. only problem is the $$.. sure only $25 but also gas for us driving from the dfw area :(. i know most of you guys that are going will be spending the night there, but i will have to head home the same day.

Let me break the tie. IF it is in Dallas, I will come down there. I'm in Colorado. So to bad to all the "I don't wanna drive" ppl. It is 11 (yeah right, 9) hrs for me down. With todays gas price? whew! So my vote WILL be Dallas. I just drove up from there last month. (Remeber I was in Germany?) I bounce all over the place anyway. BTW, what's everyone age? No beer, no go for me...lol

ok cool
i'm 19, but whether theres alcohol or not it doesnt matter.. i dont/wont drink.

My brakes really need some work done, but I really don't think it's worth the $400+ Just Brakes is trying to charge me, so the closer the better. I'm hoping to have them fixed by Oct though.....heh
Anyone good with fixing brakes???
:D
all im gonna tell you is dont go to just brakes. they'll f*ck up your car like none other.. take off parts and say "oh well looks like you need this part installed, thats another $300"
take it to a good small shop and they can do it for you. prolly charge about half the price
Actual stats:
Near Dallas - 6
Near Ennis - 3
Near Waco - 4
Near Austin - 6
Near Houston - 5

whats wrong with your brakes dude?
what all are they going to be replacing for $400?
yours is a gt, right?
anyway, take it to a real shop and have them take a look.
jiffy lube and just brakes type places are known for messing cars up...

Ya, it's a GT, and it's making a loud squeek when I hit the brakes at slow speeds. The guy at JBs said that the calipers need to be rebuilt, and that currently they are bad and causing the pads to get "stuck" after applying the brakes. Therefore; causing additional damage to the pads and rotors....
I hate asshole mechanics.....
I really need to learn to do my own brakes.

if the calipers really need to be rebuilt (unlikely) then it sounds like its time for a tib brake upgrade =).
here's a way to check if the calipers are really still clamping...put the car on a flat, non-sloped surface (car running). have someone else driving. have them roll forward a little ways and come to a stop using the brakes. release brakes, and you come up behind the car and try to push it. if you cant push it, then the calipers are going to still be clamping on the rotors, and perhaps you do need a caliper repair.
if you're needing a more scientific method, you can measure the rolling resistance of the vehicle with and without the brake calipers. disc brakes are always going to create some excess drag on the vehicle, but if its alot, then you'll know something's up
alright it looks like its gonna be impossible to break the tie between dallas and austin right now on this poll, and with 2 days left i think its safe to say that we can end this poll
im about to start another thread, in which everyone can decide where they would much rather be. dallas or austin. only reason im not counting houston is because houston actually only has 5 votes compared to the 6 it shows. exsailor is not in texas.

Actually.....
Phiber only picked Austin b/c he knows we never have any meets in the Houston area. He and I always end up driving to Dallas.
As is usual....I am pretty much willing to drive out to anywhere. My only problem is, the last DFW meet we had....I was the only person to make the long drive to meet 2 others in the cold rain....hehe
It wasn't much of a meet, although the food and scenery was quite nice...haha
If we can actually get something decent together and get a good showing, then I'm game for anywhere. But if it's going to be a long drive for most people....that are going to end up staying for 2-4 hours just to turn around and go home....what's the point??
If I go anywhere, Austin, SA, or DFW, I'm getting a room. I don't mind having a few guests stay overnight as long as I don't think you're crazier than I am.
Let's get this going and get it BIG!!!!!
If you're not old enough to drink.....please don't do it around me....already been in trouble once for contributing. I'm not saying we have to drink to have fun....I'm just saying try and keep it legal for the most part. ;)
piece....I'm out

Clown, you know you're welcome no matter what you drive. As soon as the details got worked out, I was going to make sure you and Dave knew about it. We really need to get Dave out so he can clear his head.
