Hyundai has a TSB for the oil filter that states the valvetrain can chatter if a non-Hyundai filter is used, which the oiling is very critical on these engines. We know that the Hyundai filter has more filtration than most filters, but also a check valve that is designed to allow the oil pressure to stay within the small normal range.
Most aftermarket filters do not have this checkvalve. Wix filters happens to have the same valve plus it also has the checkvalve.

Note that the TSB says this CAN happen, not that it WILL. They also don't specify which filters this can occur with. Purolator Pure One filters are very highly rated in terms of filtration efficiency and don't cause the chatter that the TSB refers to. They also have high quality bypass and anti-backflow valves.
I have seen it first hand and that filter was a fram.Thats the only filter that I have seen do that.like I said 1 out of alot

I have yet to note any problems using mobil 1 filters for about 10,000 miles.
but for the first 40,000 miles, I only used OEM filters.

I second that. I've had Mobil 1 oil filter since after the first 3K miles, now at 63K. It's expensive though, so $4-5 for the OEM filter isn't too bad if you want a good filter and are worried about this happening.

The factory filter is about $5.00. There is a thread on elantraclub regarding the filtration of it vs aftermarket filters.

Where do you guys buy the OEM filter? Nearest Hyundai dealer is a good hour and a half drive from where I live. Anyone have an online source?
Thanks,
