AOL is just as bad. Try to cancel their 2082038 hours free trial thing, they keep you on the phone for like 20 minutes, I just repeatedly asked for the manager whenever they tried to sell me on it, uh.

Any name brand I find is horrible on service. Most companies outsource to save on costs. I ave about 3 companies I have found are excellent and don't dick around with you.

You do know you can change that info on-line, right?
Good luck, hopefully the get it resolved for you. I have not had any problems with them, which is probably why I have 5 of their computers right now.

with dell, i had a printer that went bad after about 6 months, and they sent me a brand new one in the mail, within a week. funny thing was, they never told me i had to send the old one back. then the new one never worked.
with aol, it took us 30 minutes to cancel our service, and we told them dial up was too slow, and aol was too expensive. all those companies suck about deleting an account, so does ebay.

I bought a dell and returned it, 3 times because the computer had so many conflicts with my software. I spent 2 hours on the damn phone with them trying to get a refund. I built my new computer for 1/2 of the cost of a Dell.
I get a phat discount off dell from work which I can't complain about(40-50% off sometimes). I have both a laptop and desktop and they have fixed any problem I have had with no problems. Actually I haven't had more than 1 or 2 small issues over several years.

Yeah, I've actually had great experiences with Dell, myself. I have a Dimension 8200 and an Inspiron 5150. There was a problem with the fan design on the 5150, but we only found out about that long after the warranty. Easy enough to fix, anyway. They've been swift to replace things, and I've only had to replace stuff really early on, like, the day I get my computer.

I've not been too impressed with Dell service/support either. They'll ask you plenty of idiot-proof routine questions to make sure the computer's plugged in and stuff like that. And many times if the problem is much more complicated than that they'll be at a loss for words.
But I've heard that their Gold support is excellent. They'll ask you what the problem is, what you've tried so far. And then tell you what you need to do to solve the problem.

Thats why they dude you got a dell????
I dated a gilr that had one. The cable for the keyboard went bad. Went to look at it, and the insulator on the plug broke off. Spent the next 3 days trying to get them to understand it. When we finally did they were like well its under warranty we will send you a new mother board to install.
I was wait a minute, if it is under warranty you will have a tech here tomorrow with the part by 11am or we will send it back to you peice by peice.
Come 11:05 they were knocking on the door.
Never had to complain so much to get warranty work in my life.
I agree with the aol commments, them bastard want first born, next of kin, right arm left leg.

I should mention, I had one experience with Dell Service. It was back in 2001 I think. My current computer's HD went bad, I called and told them what happened, within a week there was a guy at my house and he installed it, has been perfect since (although slow because it is a Pentium 3, 733mhz, 384MB RAM piece of 2000 crap).
This all happened because I want the new computer to ship where I work and the billing addy would be my house, everytime we would edit the info on the page it would try to bill it to my work addy.I got on the phone and the dude was hellbent on selling me crap I didnt want and had no need for.He repeatedly asked me for MY customer number and all addresses due to the fact he kept forgetting them. After almost an hour of being on the phone,we got it straight and "Dude, im gettin a Dell"!Finally im getting rid of my Wally-Mart computer

I just bought 2 new Dell computers this summer for the kids. I changed the ship to address on-line and kept the billing addy as my house, no problems took less than 5 minutes.
FYI, I changed the main title because of the a$$ part and people at work.
Either way i'll have a new computer next week that is far superior(sp) to the one I have now,and I cant wait to get it.Its a dimension 5100 with pent 4 521 with ht,512 mb and 160 gb of hard drive..yea the hd is over kill,17 "lcd monitor surround sound with sub and other goodies I cant remember at this time
screw premade computers..
DUDE YOU GOT SCREWED BY DELL should be there damn slogan
anyways I make my own, if you want me to build one for ya top of the line 50%-75% less then dell, alienware, falconwest another places.. just gotta pay for the parts and some labor time and such
I just wanted to get another computer so I will have the one I got now as test mule,so i'll still be able to get on here if I screw something up

After you pay for the software and such, the premade computers average out about the same. I think you made a good choice, have fun with it.
Oh and I will,it's gotta be hella faster than the one I have now.Does dell load their computers with junk programs like wal mart does?

still about $500-$1500 even more off the price.... I can do a top of the line one for $1,200-$1,300 atm (new Athlon 64 + 2 graphics cards PCI express)

Not sure which software level you got, but with the computer you bought hopefully you opted for the multimedia kit.
The 2 new ones I just bought for my boys were basic ones so they came with 'AOL' and that was about it. I deleted AOL right away and the rest is just basic XP stuff (windows media player, notepad, etc.), but i bought them more so that they could play on cartoon network and what not. The other computers came with a few misc programs but nothing too bad.
Oh, and did you get the recovery disc and window's disc, those are options now.
Um,its got windows media center 2005,also has crappy aol but it will be gone as soon as I get it out of the box. Then install my verizon dsl program and all the other goodies
Here's making a top of the line system right now > (yes I know we can do 939 AMD socket but thats $500-600 for cpu  and not that much %+)
AMD Athlon 64 +3700 754 Socket = $250
ASRock Mobo 754 Socket = $68
2x Sticks of High Performance PC4200 512MB Sticks = $80
ATI Radeon x850 Pro AGP 256mb DDR2 = $281
Case = $85
Antec Power Supply 450 = $64
Western Digital 160 Gig HDD (8mb Cache) = $65
Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Sound Card = $60
Samsung 16x DVD±R/RW Burner = $40
Windows XP Home Edition $95
$1,088... Try any game out right now @ max settings
:)
