Chilton doesn't look like they have service manuals for the ELantra past 1998 and Haynes doesn't have anything published for Elantra models past 2001. I have a 2002 and am wondering if I'm "ok" to assume the 2001 will be correct. I don't think HMC made many changes between 2001 and 2002 did they?

I think the 2001 is added in the older j2 book, but its totally different.i could be wrong though.

Haynes seems to be the most updated manual so I'll focus on that one really. It covers 96-01 but it seems really outdated too. It seems rediculous they don't have one published for the 2002, which is almost 4 years in service.

a 2001 and 2002 XD are about 99.5% identical, and for practical repair and maintenance purposes, they are 99.99% identical. but don't waste you money on a chilton's or haynes manual. not worth it. pick up the genuine hyundai shop manual for about $60 either on ebay or through hyundaipartsonline. it's worth the extra money in the long run. if you can't find one on ebay for a 2002, you can pick up one for a 2001 or 2003, and they will be about 99.5% identical to each other. i found my 2002 shop manual on ebay a couple years ago for $30 used, but i haven't seen them there that cheap lately.

The haynes and chilton manuals for the 02 hyundais on up will not be available until 2007-2008, I have already written to them regarding this and thats the quoted time they will be available. This is because it has something to do with the information still being proprietary I if I recall.

Ok thanks for the information. I'll keep an eye out on ebay for a cheap factory manual.
