View Full Version : problem with HU
I go into my car and turn it on and i have a motorized face on my HU and it folds down like normal but the display doesn't appear, no light what-so-ever. The cd plays fine and the controls respond perfectly, so i take the cd out and push the button for it to fold up and i get a pen and push the reset button. Still no display when it is folded down or folded up. I put the cd back in and it plays fine but i just have to pay attention to what number it's on. Now is there something i can do to fix this? Maybe a bad wire or something? x_x
This occured exactly 2 hours after i got home from mcdonalds and it was fine when i went to mcdonalds.
Is it time for a new HU? (this one is 3-4 years old)

is the face plate removable? if so, check the gold looking contact points on the radio itself and the removable face plate. if all looks good, put it back together and turn it on. still no display, give it a good smack. sometimes jarring something gets the buggs out. if it still doesnt work, time for a new one. someone on newtib has a pioneer 860mp for sale (150.00 or something) thats a great deck. let us know what happens.

What kind of HU is it? I had a Pioneer that I actually had to replace a ribbon cable in to fix the problem.

it shouldnt be a fuse if it still powers up and works. there is a bad connection between the faceplate and the radio itself.
ok well it's a sony xplod something or other...sometimes i leave it so when i turn the car off the faceplate will fold down when i turn it on again and sometimes when it does that the display will work...it must be just a bad cable. Do they have people that fix/raplace those cables?
