So, I was rear ended a few weeks ago, and have just now got around to gettting everything settled. It is in the shop right now, over $800 to replace bumper and other related parts. Anyways, I was taken to Enterprise to pick up my rental that Progressive provided for me. I get there, and was supposed to get a Focus, instead I was upgraded to a Camry because the Focus wouldn't be ready till noon. Anyways, to make a long story short, I hate this car. I started driving and I said to myself, "upgrade my ***." It is an auto, so I am not really used to it, but I have never been in such an unresponsive car before. If I hit the gas the car slowly picks up until it decides to start pickin' up. I was expecting alot more. It also feels very disconnected from the road, and I haven't felt that way since I drove my '92 Crown Vic (I loved that boat). Luckily I get my EXD back on Friday with a nice new bumper. I do like the white gauge cluster though. Ergonomics suck as well. Anyways, if you expected the 2005 Camry to be a great car, start getting disappointed.

I'm not impressed with the current generation Camry either. They have been all downhill since the 1992-1996 models.

Ya, I wanted to add that in there. My friend had a '96 and I thought it was an awesome car. I guess I was just expecting to much when I got into it and now it is ruined for me. Now I don't get the XD back until Tuesday. Yay......Ha.

I am pretty sure the new Camry has less legroom for the driver than the XD. I was disappointed when I gave it a 'test fit' last February, at the auto show. I really expected it to be more 'comfy'.

yeah i really hate the newer camrys... i've driven a 2000 and 2002... automatic is very slow... can't feel any power at all even though its rated at like 140 hp? something like that... no torque either... very boring car and in my opinion looks like a grandma's car

Could be worse... you could be driving a rental Chevy HHR (//www.elantraxd.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10576) (shameless attempt at thread hijack) :D

I was originally going to jack that post, but decided to be nice. I tihnk it is a little roomier that the XD. However, it sucks with everything else so the XD wins.

I like the new Camrys. My mom has an 04 v6 one, and it has like 200+ Hp 200+ torque. It drives nice.

I'm surprised that it's not significantly roomier. It looks bigger from the outside, and if I weren't feeling lazy I'd look up the specs online. I am contstantly impressed with how roomy the Elantra is when I ride or drive a different, car, though, so I can believe it.

I have to admit, I like the exterior styling somewhat -- there's a metal flake burgundy Camry here at work that looks very nice.

Is that a 4 cyl or 6 cyl Camry?

6'4". It also seemed like the pedal area was a little clostrophobic for me (size 14). I guess ideally, I'm supposed to be driving an F250, too bad I like small cars more.
