I got mine doing 6 over in the middle of freaking nowhere. I could have rolled the car 26 times and burst into flames and might have killed grass.... depending on where I landed. What the cop didn't know was I had just slowed down from 20 over. I had been going 85 in a 65.. I dont remeber now why I slowed down but I did it about 1 mile before I saw the cop 10 miles down the road (maybe literaly it was in eastern CO.. nothing there). I paid it, I was guilty but I still feel like that was BS. That speed limit was/is anyway.

I think I'm on #10. The first 8 I got between when I was 16 & 18 and I've only had two in the last 8 years. I've calmed down quite a bit and my foot isn't as heavy as it used to be.

I dont have any luckily. If I would have gotten pulled over the other day they would have yanked my liscense for going 120 in a 65. And yes I was driving my (no engine mods) ELantra. I got pulled over once and was given a warning cuz the cop was a prick.

Two for me. One for speeding/tailgating. The speeding was 80 in a 65 in my late 80's Voyager. Second ticket was for failing to maintain proper control of the vehicle, when I ran into an old Sentra with my moms Cutlass Supreme.

I hate to pay so much attention to this post, but...

120MPH? Are you sure, the Elantra tends to be limited around 117MPH (although the speedo is less accurate up that way). 120MPH? Are you an idiot?

Got a warning and the cop is a prick? Shouldn't you be happy you got off without a ticket?

2 tickets in less than a year.

1- "Wreckless driving" because I didn't put a flasher on while changing lanes on a service road WITHOUT TRAFFIC.

2- Did a stop sign, what we call here, the American way. Currently fighting that one.

2nd: tailgating. my friend's car. pretty funny actually.

I have only one (thank you Lord!).
I just hope I don't get a ticket for something ridiculous like doing 180 in a 100 zone, where I'd lose my license for 12 months + a fine over $500.

My fine & single demerit point (we get 12 per license), ended up costing me 170, I was going 67km/h in a 60 zone.

Damn Elkane! $95USD for a parking fine!!! That is hella harsh.

My story is one told by all of my friends to whomever will listen. I'll try and keep it as short as possible.

Moved to Canada with family in 1999, got licence in 2000, got 91' Ford Taurus day of licence in 2000. See though, we were diplomats, which is no way to learn to drive a car. We had "diplomatic immunity" which added to the already wreckless attitude of a 17 year old driver and just made things worse.

In the space of the next two years, I was pulled over 5 times. One of them was for doing 100kms over in a 60 zone. (61mph over in a 35 zone, three times the speed limit). The cop apologized to me when he saw the licence plates on the car (they are red for diplomats and white for the normal people!). A few more instances like that where I was let off with warnings when I should have had the book thrown at me. Then...

The day I was going to leave Canada in september 2002. My parents had left before me, no more immunity, driving girlfriends brothers car with normal plates. Driving home from Toronto I got pulled over near Napanee (curse you Avril Lavigne, all your fault) for doing 120 in an 80 (73mph in a 50). I got a $120 fine and 2 points. They came off my licence on the 16th of this month, and I forgot until just now.

The cop said it was the easiest ticket he ever gave, that I took it well and he wished everyone was that easy going. He got me fair and square. Needless to say, what I was doing back then was very stupid, driving like I owned the world was careless to other people and I shouldn't have done it. I've settled down now to an almost speed limit driver (5mph over at the most) and I'm enjoying life in the slow lane.

Elkane, that is hilarous about the ticket for tailgaiting your friends car. I guess that wouldn't be a valid excuse. It's always funnier when someone is there to witness it, or a friend in another car is involved as well and gets to laugh at you afterwards.

I had so many speeding tickets (no tickets for accidents or reckless driving, only speeding) back in the late 80's and early 90's that by the time I was 21 that my license was revoked for 1 year. That really sucked. :(

A funny one was me doing 88 mph in a 55 mph zone in a 3-cylinder 1.2L Subaru Justy and the cop saying "I didn't know these cars could go that fast!" He still wrote me a ticket.

I've never been arrested (or even asked to step out of the vehicle), though.

Speeding can be expensive and can cause you to lose your license (and also potentially injure or kill you or someone else). Please be careful.

i've been pulled over more times than i can count, but mostly because driving my mustang they can't see my seatbelts(lapbelts only) only ever got one ticket and it was dismissed later the same day, ticket for illigal use of blue warning lights(voulenteer FF) was responding to a fire about 1 mile outside my legal responding area, normally they don't care but this cop was having a bad day, went to the station later that day and got it cleared by his supervisor

First was for following too close. I wrecked my 92 Passat by rear-ending a van that had stopped at the lights during morning rush hour. A year later I bought my Hyundai.

2 for speeding. One of which was 92 in a 65 at 12:30a.m. the morning after my one month annivesary of getting my used Hyundai. The cop added expired tags to the ticket (I still had in-transits that expired 30 minutes before he pulled me over). That damn ticket cost me $241.

One for having a TV mounted in the car. He pulled me over for speeding, dead headlight and stupid me did not turn off my TV before he got to me. Surprisingly he let me go with a warning on the speeding, and a fix it on the headlamp and TV.

One for Loud music. I ended up paying $100 for that one.

Super I have a picture of my speedometer if you would like me to post. and its one of those crappy camera phone photos but its half decent. Some of my friends think I am a little crazy at times. Yes the cop was a prick because he quite wouldnt understand the fact that my car had quit and my steering wheel locked and the brake pedal went hard so I could get the car to stop. I am happy I didnt get a ticket but the cop harassed me by following me to the dealer and then followed me inside still asking me a bunch of pointless questions...But o well thats okay I passed them later in one of those new corvettes. I cant quite figure out how to post a pic ant help

I've had 5 tickets so far....
Three in MD:
2 for speeding (only like 15 over) for 2 pts each... 4pts
1 for "unsafe lane change" -BS! apparently its illegal to pass 2 cars at once... 1pt
also found out at 5pts the state makes you go to drivers improvement or take you licesce, i got 100% in DI :)

Two tix in DE:
Both for speeding, one for 44 in a 35 (knocked down from 60 in a 35) and the other for 44 in a 30 (knocked down from 60 in a 30)

Yes i have slowed down, and I did not fight any of the tickets

Also have 4 warnings :)

my normal highway speed is 80 regardless of the speed limit. i have gotten 4 tickets in the past year, lucky for me, i was always about seven to ten miles over the speed limit. i wasnt paying attention when they caught me. thats how i always get caught. but lucky for me i got a lawyer to take care of em for me, so now they are off my record.

speeding: - 50 in a 35 (dropped to 45) - 75 in a 55 (droped to 70)
parking- parking the wrong way in georgetown (bs ticket!) - 3 firelane tickets
other- having neons on -rolling through stop sign
warnings- music too loud, one for having that g-tech thing on my front windshield (cop thought it was a detector lol)

went to a driving improvement class. easy but cost a lot to take!

Yep. You people better be over 40 with that many tickets. Even then, that's 22 years driving with 8 tickets = more than one ticket every three years.

Hmm... come to think of it, I've been driving for 6 years and I have two, so that's the same thing... HMMM.

But, none of them in the last 3.5 years... so... hmm.

I just think its absolutrly ridiculus for what cops can write you up for. I mean neon liscense plates, ground neon, grille neon. Heck one of my friends got a ticket for having neon lights in his suburban that is like massive. I dont know how they could have seen the lights cuz it was so tall. Then we get to the music i mean i can see a warning for blaring music but i mean if ur windows down and they hear it then they shouldnt write someone up, however if there windows are up and u can hear it pretty good and it rattling your car i can see why.....No offense to government but I am really hating it. Like my short shifter got held up in customs for like a day cux it came from canada. Then I am wanting to import from Japan and after I found out about all the paper work and all sorts of bs you have to go through just to get the car here. Then you have to go through more bs to get the car legalized. I am just like grrr. This country only benefits the rich not the middle class or the poor. (Sorry about the rant and also sorry for going off topic)

One I got probabtion, the other I'm currently contesting.

Cop pulled me over for going 71 in a construction zone with worker's present. I coulda swore the speed limit was 65 but he says it was 55. Also, he was giving me a lecuture about the safety of the workers and how close they were too me when he was hiding on the other side of the hill where traffic couldn't see him; basically using the workers to create his own personal speed trap. He even told me he wasn't having any luck slowing people down.

I figure I'm screwed either way, but I don't stand any chance without going to court. Maybe they will offer me probation to help clear the dockett... *shrug*
