Don't get me wrong, I'd love if gas was back at $1.35-1.45 a gallon, but... gas prices could get up to $3 something and all of us would still be buying it. That's the problem, everyone NEEDS the gas, no matter how much it is. Oh wells. I can get it for as little as $1.85, so that's not too bad.

Getting a Jetta TDI would be a good call, except they are selling them for ridicously high because of the high demand. You could get a motorcycle that gets a lot of MPG though. Good luck.

$2.00 per gallon really isnt that bad. and I think its a hell of a step towards making americans (myself included) more energy conscious. why waste the gas if its not important? why buy a truck if its primary use is to drive back and forth to work? why buy an SUV if you usually only have one passenger? motorcycles are great, too bad its dangerous as **** to ride them in a metropolitan area.

Norway is the second largest oil exporter in the world and I pay about 5 dollars a gallon over there too. I do remember when i filled up my car for 10 bucks a couple years back though.

the prices around me are going down! ...but that is just politics rearing its ugly head!.....its funny because if it really had a to do with oil production and barrel price...the cost of diesel would have went up just as much as regular gas...guess what??? it hasnt...why because then it would eat into big coporate america's overhead!....anyway...enough with my rant :bang:

my gas prices have gone down approx 15 cents since last gripe thread posted couple-few weeks back, and continue to lower, so I can't complain

I love the fact that I can get premium as cheap as $1.93 a gallon now. LOL

Beats the hell out of the west coast where the cheap stuff was still around $2.25

Yeah Im in cali paying around $2.30 a gallon.

07-08-2004, 12:39 PM
I just paid 1.869 in AZ, so ha! Cali sucks when it comes to gas prices, they screw you because they can. What's funny is that our gas (or at least most of it) comes from Cali.

jameswing
07-08-2004, 01:40 PM
our prices are goign down. I can get 87 from 76 or chevron for 2.17. I was used to getting 89 for my Prelude and I was paying like 2.40 for that.

Where do you guys buy your gas? What seems to work the best in XDs? Chevron, 76, Shell, Texaco, or whatever? I don't want to know based just on price b/c I want to get this thing to last as long as possiable.

IMO

I think it's higher in Cali b/c of all of the war protestors (at leasst in Fresno). They raise the price to show the wars not about the oil. Go Army!! (My Fiance' is in the Guard)

AUTOBOT
07-08-2004, 02:08 PM
Cali gas prices have nothing to do with war protestors.

The prices in Cali are so high because the taxes on gas applied by both the state and the city you live in are so high. People in Cali pay about 35% on taxes for gas. So, at $2.30 a gal, you are paying almost $0.80 a gallon in just taxes.

Thats right, every time you fill up, you pay the government over $10 :abovelol:

*shrug* what can you do? I need the gas so ill pay it whatever the price is...

I noticed it steadily decreasing, then just shoots back up.....

In the latest Motor Trend they have a really good write up on alternative types of cars/fuels.....such as Hybrids, Fuel Cells, Hydrogen...etc.....I've only got to page 3 but it's really good so far....puts alot into perspective.

Compared to what they pay in England or Australia, we still get gas on the cheap, even when we're well over two bucks a gallon.

I fill up the Suburban every week and it usually cost me about $60 to $70, it has a 36 gallon tank. Company truck also has a 36 gallon tank, I usually have to fill that one every 2 to 3 days, I am just glad that the company pays for that one. Prices here are between $1.85 to $1.95 per gallon.

Yeah gas prices suck. I haven't had to put $30 worth in, but I've been up to $25. Gas went back down to $1.79 here. Two years ago it was under $.80. I wish it were that much again. When I had my Neon, I could fill it up on empty for $10 two years ago.

I should just get a ****ing Jetta TDI.

Why, so you could pay $10,000 mor for the initial purchase and diesel is more than super unleaded around here. At least the XD gets decent mileage. My Jeep gets 13 mpg.

I filled up Friday at $2.07. I heard on the news this morning which I didn't have time to watch but they were talking about prices going down. I hope this is true.

Almost $30 to fill up the tank is retarded!

It's steady around $2.00 here for 87, a little cheaper and little more expensive in different places.

And yeah, everyone stop complaining, if you think it's too much just get a bicycle or walk, haha. I mean, complaining isn't going to do anything...

Here, diesel is about 8 to 10 cents more than premium. Thank your local gas companys. Or even better, throw rocks through their windows. Or better yet! Throw rocks through their windows while riding a bicycle!

I filled up 4 days ago and paid $37 Cdn to fill up. That's equilvient to a little over $30 US. And that was when it has been the cheapest in over a year. Paid 74.8 cents a litre. Usually it's 81.9 or 82.5 around here. I've put in over $40 before.

XWRed5W3

Holy crap - the dollar is down that much against the Canadian dollar? I remember when I went to Canada two years ago the exchange rate was 1.60 Canadian to 1 US. And the dollar stores - hehe. More like the 60 cent store.

haha...start complaining when you deliver pizzas (like a couple people here)...you wanna talk about *****in payin for gas...yes, we get money for every delivery we take, but if i work for 6 hours, i might take 18 dels, so $18 plus tips...i can EASILY go through a full tank of gas in 3 days, no problem...if i could find a job where i can do as little work as i do delivering pizzas and make 15$/hour, hell yea id take it up, but, as it is, the money is too good (even having to pay for gas) to quit...i need to get a geo metro or a dodge colt...(startin to wish i didnt blow the tranny out of my metro...first car)...7 gallon tank and i know a guy i work w/ has a chevy sprint (i think) and he gets somethin like 50mpg

evan938
07-21-2007, 08:51 AM
eh...gas dropped about 26 cents in the last few days at a few places around here, down to 2.73...

im actually checking out a couple places to start deliverin pizza again on the side, 3-4 nights/week. talked to the owner of one shop last night who said hes looking for someone to start within 2-3 weeks

nice thing is, pizza delivery drivers dont go by the "tipped employees min wage scale", and since ohio just passed the min wage law bumping it from 5.15 to 6.85, ill be making a nice extra bit on the hour. ~20 hrs/wk at 12-15$/hr = extra ~1000-1200/mo for evan. nice

or would it be a bad thing because it would give people excuses to become even more lazy...
