I'm getting carbon fiber pedals and dashboard.. so don't get cf ;)
I found a bunch of kits on autoanything.com But I have nothing to base them on if they're a good company. I'm pretty sure some other ppl here have used them though.

You've noticed that all of the dash kits I've seen (with the exception of the woodgrain OEM unit, which is a moulded replacement / skin for the dash) leave a lot of the black dash stuff exposed, right? Areas like the curved section above the two vents to the right of the driver and the opening around the gauges aren't covered by the dash kit.
Just an FYI...

woody had a brushed aluminium kit... I think he sold his car though..... here's his profile http://www.elantraxd.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5437&highlight=aluminum+dash
I remember there was quite a bit of disscussion about it, do a search for more details :D
yea he had the "fake" brushed kit... I am going to go with the real one (looks better I think) then alum e-brake/pedals and leather boots for shifter/e-brake later
nycdashes has some http://www.nycdashes.com/cart/customer/home.php?cat=5384

i'm pretty sure molded is the actualy pieces
I put a vinyl dash kit in my gf's grand am and cussed that bxxch the whole time.Got it done and it turned out pretty good.So the moled one is wayyyy better than anything that just sticks on

if it is i would go for it for 200 bucks.
I still fail to see the real difference, I know it cant replace the real parts it would be way more money

Notice the area in the schematic where the #1 is in your NYCdashes post above. That's what I'm talking about. The inset black part that goes from the front surface of the dash in towards the clear plastic part in front of your gauges isn't covered with the stick-on kits.
Only a replacement piece will cover that area.
If that doesn't matter to you, please ignore this comment.

Here's a picture of what I was referring to. If you look around the intstrument cluster, you'll see how the stick-on dash kit pieces end outside the indentation for the instruments. The kit also doesn't cover the curved part of the dash above the center vents -- there's a strip that covers the raised part above the curve, though.

IMO doing a nice paint job on the dash would look nicer -- that way the whole unit can be the same color without some areas of the black OEM stuff showing through.

Ok.
Flat = Flat piece of stick on vinyl, like a piece of paper
Molded = stick on that has been heated and formed to take the shape of the piece you're putting it on.
There are no replacement-dash kits, with the exception of the wood-grain, and a few that have been custom made (out of CF, etc.)
ALL of the dash kits that are available for the Elantra are stick-on.

painting is always the best way...its not that hard and comes out much nicer...not to mention you can paint whatever you want! and not have to worry about if the kit covers it or not...my.02

Be careful when the site says "Molded". Make sure the pieces "replace" the pieces being changed. The diagrams pictured all look like overlays. If you've evre taken the dash apart, the black areais all one big piece. The diagrams shown don't look like one big molded piece. Just a thought.

I like the kit shown in the picture Kylemorg posted. Even it is does just stick on and doesn't cover 'everything' I think it looks awesome! :)
I like my rice and eat it too ;)
