Someone broke into your car and that is Hyundai's fault?

Sorry for what happened, I guess.

well i think he was saying that since hyundai's come cheaper than most cars in its class, the repairs should've been cheaper too.

but yeah like someone said farther down.. its true about the custom fit of the small window.. it should cost that much maybe a little less.. thats why im editing my original comment and putting this in place.. custom **** is always $$$$$$

hey dude i'm new here but i'm not new to dealer complaints cuz i'm a customer service rep and i get complaints from gm customers but i'm not too sure about hyundai but i'm pretty sure that its totally up to the dealer to set prices and for repairs so take it up with your dealer not hyundai

I would say goto your insurance company and pay the deduct. My only question is,how are you goin to blame the car for something that was not in your control? If that was the case all my cars would have been crappy due to all the stuff I have messed up when modding them out

DIDO......things that tend to get replaced less are always more expensive=back windows don't get broken often=expensive=insurance should help pay :)

did you try checking at a glass place... like Guardian?

and if you think your Escort was better because a window in your Elantra is too expensive, you're the one smoking crack....

i used to do auto glass. that little back side window costs that much because the labor involved. its a PITA to remove and replace. but 412.00 is pricy. like they said above, try a window repair company. (guardian, henderson glass, glass doctor, ect.) look in the phone book.

and dont ***** about hyundai. they may not cost as much as other cars, but they hold up just as well. but hyundai dealerships do suck, imo.

#1 if it was the small window, it should cost that much. they are tiny and need to be custom fit to every vehicle, there is no template to get "universal glass" like a windshield, or even regular window.

#2 insurance should cover it, if you reported it

#3 hyundais are not expensive to fix, especially if you aren't afraid to try to fix it yourself and know what you are doing.

I never posted before, but I think I should. I replace glass for a living and there are many reasons why that window is more expensive. For one you went to a dealer who in turn is going to get a glass company to come and replace this window. They have to pay the company so, you are going to have to pay a inflated price. And two tempered glass is more expensive than laminated (windshield glass) because is not as commonly replaced. Oh...I had a 96 Escort...biggest piece of **** I ever owned...ford bought it back...I'll take the Hyundai any day

i had the same window busted out on my car earlier this year.

I got a new window from the dealer for $ 90.

retail on it was like 140 ?

You could buy the class yourself and install it at home, it took me about 30 minutes to install by myself with only a screw driver to remove the door panel.

lol

you suck big time, and if i recall ... the escort you had came with a mazda engine in it... it had mazda suspension components on it too... it was basically an mx3 with a different body on it..

why even go to a dealer to get a window fixed in the first place?

Yep, an auto glass place is the way to go in this case. They can do the install on site & it might be covered by insurance (windsheilds are in a lot of states). I'd say he should check the salvage yard. Tons of junked Elantras out there.... no need to go to the dealer & pay $400 for a window!

The dealer ripping you off has nothing to do with Hyundai. It's the individual dealer thinking you are gullable enough to pay it (hopefully you weren't).

And in my few years of being on the site... typically someone posts about how much Hyundai sucks for one reason... to get attention. You don't have to waste all kinds of time telling all the other owners how much you hate your car. It's a really easy solution. If you don't like your car, sell it and buy something else. Problem solved.
