Should I get a seperate battery to power the subs and that amp then? If so, would it run off the alternator or will I have to get a new battery every once in a while?

whats the power of the amps?

and with that set-up, just upgrade the front battery, i dont think you need a second batt. plus the cost of wiring up a dual battery set-up (properly) will cost more than the system.

LMFAO, yes, i will just upgrade the front battery. Any suggestions (I have no idea what I'm looking for, I would just thing the higher the price the better the battery and would pay for the most expensive I could get)?

optima red top. just go to the auto parts store and look and see. they do have one that will fit. cost should be around 125.00.

All you need is a battery isolator and a 4guage wiring kit.

Unluss your system coslts 200 bucks, a dual battery set up is way cheaper than the system cost

to properly install a dual battery set-up, you WILL need to use 0ga wire for the power wire to the 2nd battery in the trunk. also an isolator, circuit breaker, and a few other misc items. if you use a 4ga wire to wire up a dual batt system...kiss your car goodby. 4ga wire may and will fry because it will get hot and melt. you will need about 16' of the power wire alone. and with that length of power wire you WILL need to go with a bigger gauge wire to handle the current load.

look, i have a dual batt set-up. look and see what i used for mine. do it right the first time and your car will be safe and the system will operate correctly. i have about 20' of 0ga wire for the power and ground. i also use a 160 amp circuit breaker and a 150 amp relay. 0ga wire is about 10.00@', and the other misc items will run you about another 300.00 (relay, circuit breaker, batt terminals, ect)

i have a DIY on a dual batt install. check it out and see for your self whats all involved.

Listen to 2loud about a dual battery setup-- I saw his stereo system and his audio setup was for competetion, everything was done right.

Anyway, if you need more power then you need a new or rewound alternator, not necessarily an extra battery. The battery only stores power, it doesn't generate it.

I'd personally recommend the Optima Yellow Top over the red top if you sit in your car and listen to the stereo without the car running -- it handles deep cycles of discharge and recharge better. With an MTX 421D monobloc amp I have no headlight dimming with a yellow top, even at full volume at idle.

i also prefer the yellow top to the red top... i've also heard rumors of using deep cycle marine batteries.... hmmmmm

imo you should get an optima red top and a power cap ...you won't need more then that unless running a powerful comp system like 2 loud..... which if i remeber correctly you aren't ...a good idea is to go to a stereo shop and ask one of the people there(one that doesnt work off comission) columbus car audio here has always awnsered my questions honestly here.

0ga wire is about 10.00@', .
although i'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for, $10 a foot for wire is steep. www.knukonceptz.com has 0/1 wire @ 1.85/ft and although it may not be the absolute best, it's high quality and will certainly get the job done.

there is a difference between good, better, and high quality. i choose high quality, especially for competing.
o/t: my rca's (6 channel) cost over $225.00
