ok so im getting a trans cooler cause im setting up to spray by next spring. but im not sure which one to get, ill probably go with a hayden like 2loud did, but should i get
light, medium, or heavy duty if i get one of those?

and what are these. and can i use one of these instead theyre more $$ but theyre purdy-

they claim to be better than the hayden style radiator mount coolers, but its ebay, so i dunno

so, what do you guys think?

hayden 1401. plenty big enough and not too big.

also, i did not mount on the condensor. i mounted it just behind my front bumper mesh. kinda looks like a small *** intercooler. this way i get more airflow around the trans cooler and i dont pick up any heat from the condensor and radaitor.

I would stick with the Hayden cooler, it is designed for what it is meant to do, and it does a damn good job of it. Dont go with a no name brand like the ones you find on eBay. I have the same one as 2loud2k2xd and it is the best out the IMO.

Nope, you will be fine. I live in Pittsburgh, PA. SO we get some bad winters and I havent had a problem with mine yet.

the blue one is junk.

get the standard radiator-style trans cooler. more fins = more cooling + more area to dissipate heat better : )

i got mine from ebay for about 35.00 shipped. and in the winter, it might cool the trans fluid a bit more. im not sure of the outcome since i store my car for the winter.

I would suggest installing the unit yourself, or you can find a reputable mechanic to do it which should be about 30-40 bucks. Of couse if you do it yourself you gain more knowledge about your car and always have the pride in doing it yourself.

go to elantragtclub, there is a diy from cclngthrr. he posted one up. its fairly easy, except pulling the lower line from behind the radiator and underneath the car.
if you look real good at the front mesh on my new pics (nov cotm) you can just barely make it out. kinda looks like a small intercooler.

you will need 1qt of hyundai trans fluid, extra hose clames and about 6 feet of trans/fuel line to do the install. it took me about 35 min to install.

if you want...pm me you # and ill walk you thru it. its sorta a pita but once you see what hoses need to be swapped its a piece of cake. make sure the bottom hose on the trans cooler goes IN the trans and not swapped around.

I did this mod to my 1999 J2 elantra back in the day when I was experimenting with a 90 shot on it...

You will need a few extra clamps and a coupler or 2 to extend the lines.
You'll need a few zip ties here and there aswell.
+ the stuff mentioned above.

Does this mod cancel the warranty?

i have a perma cool tranny cooler, i mounted it using zip ties behind the black grill on my 04 elantra. You cant really tell its there, without getting eye level with the grill.

No it does not cancel the warranty. I installed mine a week after I bought the car an it is even suggested by Hyundai and some dealers. I also added a in-line cooler filter as well.

If you want my help, PM me.

Just installed mine yesterday. Used the Hayden, only thing extra I needed was another 4 feet of hose (as cclngthr says in his write-up). Was not hard at all, took about 45 minutes, would not taken as long but I have mesh over my A/C condenser and had to remove that. The lower hose was not hard at all to get to from the top for me.
Cooler was $26 and the extra tranny hose was about $10.

ebay seller sent me wrong one hayden 1403.... any difference.. seems to be just a bit bigger...? can too much cooler be a bad thing?

2loud2k2xd

the difference from the 1401 and 1403, the 1403 is a tad bit larger. no big deal tho. it will hold a little more fluid also. enjoy the new trans cooler.
