My bank account always takes a 3-4 days to update on charges...2 days ago I had $181 in the bnak and had to get $180 out of a atm to pay for the install of my muffler at midas since they kept rejecting the card when swiping it, so the atm hits me with $5 in fee's total to pull $180 (it was a chase bank) and my banks suppose to let me goto other ones for free and now that i'm negative it showed -$4 for 2 days... then today I get hit with a -$20 overdraft fee and my accounts at -$24... even though 2 days ago (same day I got my muffler) I sent $100 to my bank account from paypal and another $70 today.. WTF

what do u guys suggest I do, second time iv been hit with one of the fees, first itme was because newegg.com charged me 2 times for a order of $250

switch to bank of america... the only waiting on charges that i have to do is for gas stations, that takes about a week, but other than that, ive had no problems. that and tell the bank to get their asses in gear.

I personally use NationalCity for all my banking services. Im not sure if there are any down south in the Texas region, but I normally like to stick with the larger banks, they seem to be more reliable and update my account within hours of my depositing or withdrawing money.

I use a credit union, PSECU, and they're really freaking awesome.

The last bank I was with, Waypoint, had all kinds of sneaky things they'd do to charge extra fees. It was awful. I complained three times about one particular thing they do -- putting the debits through before credits, but listing it differently on the letter they send -- and on the third time, I CC'd my email to the district manager, any related emails I could find on the website, and took a guess at the email address of the president of the company.

Fees were refunded within a week. I don't know if they changed their misleading paperwork though, because I have since gotten rid of everything except for my car loan, which should be paid off very shortly.

You know why banks give out free coffee and free gifts when you sign up with them? It's lubrication to make up for all the times they screw you by surprise :b

I had the same problem with Starion, when I went to get loan from First Community Credit Union, they said they'd give me 3% deduction in interest, if I would take all my accounts there. So I did.

I know that I'd get charged a fee for using my card at another atm besides the one at my bank. Honey, I'd wait a couple more days to see if your balances appear in your account. If not, then I'd raise hell. But, my advice is to wait and see what happens then take action afterwards.

alright Gun, first of all you should be aware that PAYPAL could take up to 7-10 business days to process either a deposit or a withdrawal. Now, I understand that the "fees" are outrageous, but considering you made the choice to use another ATM it is your responsibility to cover such fees. Now if I were your in situation I would either contact the branch or the customer service department and see if they can as a one time "exception" reverse the fees as a courtesy. then I would learn about how their fees are processed this way you can avoid such fees in the future. good luck.

Sorry I dont have these problems because I dont use Banks I use Credit Unions. Which means when I say I own the bank I own the bank. I have a right to sit in on Stock holder meetings and Put my vote in when they go to change CEO's, hell walk right in and talk to the CEO or call him. I belong to both a State and a Federal Credit Union, and the State Credit Union in Member invite only so someone who is already a member has to give you there name before you can become a member. My car loan is threw the federal credit union that how I got a account threw them. I over drafted once they charged me 14 bucks. I sent 1 email to the CEO of the credit union and the charge was removed because my account, which I can see online never showed my money drop below 0 Dollars.

I did away with banks and started using a credit union exclusively. They are so much cooler. The only time I could ever get an overdraft fee is if I drained my checking account so severely that it also drained my linked savings account AND my personal line of credit. All three accounts are linked, so if I did overdraft my checking, it would pull from savings to cover the amount until savings was empty, and if it got that bad, I'd still have an extra $300 cushion in the form of a linked line of credit. (All with no fees! - You only have to pay interest on the balance of your credit line.) So yeah, banks suck, credit unions rock!

What I would reccomend is that you don't ever get your account balance soo low that you would be within dollars of having $0. Keep at least $100 in the account that you never touch, pretend it's not there. That way if there is a delay in the processing of a deposit of withdrawl the "cushion" will be there to take care of it. I have at least $500 in my checking account that isn't in my check book balance. My bank statement will tell me I have xxx amount of dollars but my check book will always show xxx minus my $500 cushion. That way I can spend every penny of what is in my check book and not bounce a check if I get charged a service fee I forgot about or a ATM bent me over the last time I withdrew money and I didn't subtract the service charges from my balance. This isn't the easiest answer for you but it will work the best in the long run from my experience.

Another thing that I do that I have found to be a smart and easy money management tool is to always round up the cost of your expenses when you are spending. For example if I pay $5.35 for a value meal at the burger joint I tell my self it was a $6.00 meal. If the pizza was $18.76 I might count that as a $20 expense. The pennys don't seem significant but over time if you do this every time you write a check or use your debit card it will add up. Over the couple years I have done this I have saved about $1,000 by just rounding up the "cost" of my purchases and leaving the "extra" in my account. Every couple months I do some serious math and figure out how much "extra" has accumulated and pull it out to spend or transfer it to my savings.

ok...... your bank may not charge you a forign ATM fee, but chase did. and they add it right in to the withdrawl amount. I'm guessing your recipt from the ATM would probably read $185 from what you said before. $181 - $185 equals -$4....

From the way you described it, the bank did not make any error.

As others have pointed out, It takes Paypal a couple days to transfer funds into your checking account.

Unfortunately, it sounds like this is your mistake. I'm not saying this do be a prick, but to help you realize where the real problem lies. I used to work in customer service for Bank of America. Most of the time when someone called in to complain about a situation like yours, there was no bank error. Most often, the customer either didn't pay close enough attention to their balance and transactions, or they didn't understand how the bank credits and debits their account.

Probably the best thing to do would be to see if someone at the bank will sit down with you and explain why the fees were charged. Make sure they explain everything about how the account works so that you know how to avoid fees in the future.

You're lucky that you ended up with just $20 in fees... I've had people call in with HUNDREDS of dollars worth of fees and not be able to do anything to help them other than explain how the account works so they can avoid the situation in the future.

LEARN GOOD BANKING HABBITS NOW!!!!! It can save you a lot of money and hassle later on....

^sounds about right to me, If I use a ATM out of the network I may be charged usually it says it on the machine. Usually those machines also make you withdraw in 20 dollars and up in 20 dollar intervals. Thats why I like debit cards, I walk into a store buy a pack of gun for less than a buck and take out as much money as I wish.

went up to the bank and called paypal today, basicaly I had $178.95 in my account when I withdrawed (oct 13) 100 then 80 (since atms only let you do that) and then they put the $4 fee on top of that so I was in the negative a few dollars, thing is the day before I had transfered money from paypal to my bank (oct 12) and later that day i had said complete... not processing or uncleared.. complete, Iv transfered $300 to my bank before and usualy when its going to my bank it says processing and complete which means the transaction is done, well paypal had a different definition saying it means there end is done.... also when I talked to the person at my bank (today oct 14) she said theres no record even a processing debit from paypal on my account and its been 3 days already (did the paypal thing at like 12 am oct 11)

yeah, ATMs charge fees, not just the banks. like stated, be lucky it was only 20$ fees. a friend of mine wrote a bad check for 3$, and once all the bounced check fees, late fees, etc etc, she owed (still owes) 250$. crazy. and just w/in the last week, a kid my bro was hangin out w/ stole his wallet, ran up 300$ on his debit card, bought about 200$ of **** from waterbeds and stuff...my brother got the video from the gas station the kid went to, told him he had him on tape, and that if he didnt want him to call the cops, he was going to repay him the $, 100$ for inconvienece, and every penny in fees the bank is charging him. right now, the kid owes my brother around 700$, has paid him 200, and working on selling his car to pay him off. unfortunately, every day my brothers acct is in the (-), its costing the kid more and more.
