yeah i probably should have posted this in the help section....anyway
ive been looking at all the threads on this issue of running rich/ecu retarding timing..cels..hesitations.. and havent really seen any clear answeres on solutions..i dont want to spends thousands solving all of them but if it takes some money then i dont care... what ive learned so far with my NA car the stock ecu is making it run rich as hell due to the higher air flow with headers/intake/tb and all that.., ive heard people say that i need a fuel tuner like the safc2 to lean out the mix, but then ive heard the stock ecu will simply readjust back to the stock settings and constanlty fight it, and then i figured i would get a remapped ecu( because i had the beleif the ecu was now a "performance" ecu that didnt adjust back to the encironment freindly hippy specs the oem one does and would accept the safc changes)..but i heard that if i got it from shark racing its kdm product so it wouldt help things like the 3800 rpms hesitation that 2loud had, and it wouldnt help with emissions, and it rape my fuel economy... and then the reflash...ok is the reflash a permament thing, is it like resetting your ecu..does it adjust back to old stock settings? doesnt it only change the air fuel mix....what i think will solve the problem with a lot of money would be to get it reflashed here in the states and have the fuel tuner to fine tune the fuel curves..becasue i hear i wont get the full potential of my bolt on mods without doing things to the ecu etc... so my goal is extra horspower and decent fuel economy with little or no cels..and that rasies another question..does a reflash or remap help with cels..and what is the difference between the two..any helpful input would be greatly apreciated.. because somethings wrong when i drive a 4cyl that is slower and gets worse gas mileage than an 80's minivan with a 4.3 tbi with a holley on it

Stream of conciousness writing... interesting but hard to read.

I think FordFasterr or someone with an SAFC will be able to answer some of your questions...

i have spoke with rick @real engineering as well as some other people about kdm ecu's. they told me that the 3800rpm auto hesitation happens a bit with their ecu's as well. there is a big discussion over at elantragtclub about this now. im still getting mixed info about this and a few other topics related to this.

now, a kdm ecu from those places will give you more h/p, but they really only work with different mods. they dont work well with nitrous because they advance the timing in which nitrous applications you dont want that.

basically what im trying to say is i want to solve the problems associated with the bolt on mods i have with either a remapped/ reflashed ecu or a fuel tuner, or both so i can get the most benefit from my mods without the sacraficed fuel economy(too good to be true?)...yeah it was late..i rambled..but ill look over at elantragt club also

I would not use the Safc. A remapped ECu is your best bet because that won't try to get a stock reading from the sensors because of the adaptive learning feature.

exactly!

speaking of fuel economy. i have a 3" sri, full gutted exhaust from the stock exhaust manifold to a racing muffler, ground wire kit, 18's, nitrous, 400+lbs of audio/video+wiring in my car, and i use premium 93 gas. i drive my car hard 90% of the time. i get 28.2city and 34.1hwy. i get great mileage no matter what i do. even when spraying a bit during the day, my gas mileage doesnt suffer but about a 0.4mpg difference.

ok that sounds like a plan cclngthr..but wich ecu would u recomend...i read about the powerchip ecu giving people decent gans but horrible fuel economy..im thinkin about the shark racing ecu?? i know it gives a higher redline but im never going to let it go past 5500

I would go with BSE's ECU. The gains are better that Powerchip and it will be easier to not have the problems powerchip has had. Powerchip did not extensively test their programming before it was brought into production. Bill has had his units tested tested thoroughly before he put them on the market.
