Hey Guys,

Just a quick ???, I'm gonna make my own CAI to go in place of the resinator.. What I want to know is, how do I remove my MAF and replace it into the new alloy piping that I am going to install...

Are there any more things I should know if I'm replacing the piping from the TB right through to the resinator??

Also is there a set distance the MAF has to be away from the TB to make it work??

Cheers, Mojo

You'll want to keep the same distance for the MAF - TB spacing form the factory, Measure it and keep to it. The MAF should just unclamp and clamp back into your new piping set-up.

I have to ask though why not just get an accord CAI and modify it rather than going custom ?

Maybe the AUssie intake is slightly different I'm ont sure on that ..

I think he want's the MAF to be chrome too. I think you're out of luck with that one, unless you want to put up some money, or be creative. Maybe just make a metal sleeve to slip the MAF into.

I had no trouble fitting a 3" accord CAI to my 04 sedan. Sure it took a long time (5+ hours), but that's just coz I'm a n00b who drinks too much. :D
However, the shipping cost was pretty high ($60-70 AUD) from what I recall.
If you're going to be making the piping yourself, I say GO FOR IT!
Otherwise the accord intake is the way to go imho.

Welcome to the site mojo mate, there's a few of us aussies here.

Cheers,

dang, 5 hours?

i have to admit the resonator removal is a b!tch on elantras with foglights (no access to screw from the bottom).

5hrs is way to long, I cut and put together my first 3 inch cai in like 2.5 hrs and removed all the stock piping. Yea the 3 inch fits nice to the maf but is a ***** to get into the fender hole. I scraped that intake after a few months and fitted a 2.5 inch one that is great. No prob with the maf or fender hole. Only with the maf i just cut a bit more of the pip because 2.5 is the same size as maf (round a bout) so i have the couple joining the two sides together. 2.5 inch works good cause it gives great engine response and has nice low to mid range torque on my auto.
