Reconsidering....

Alright, first thing I'm reconsidering is the sub setup...

is what I was looking at, but I've heard some real good things about the Alpine 12" Type-R (http://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls/admn/item_info?p_item_name=SWR-1242D&p_category=70&p_subcategory=150&p_main=10&p_more=y)s, and I'm convinced that those are what I want now. Is that a better way to go than the P1 10"s?

And what about the amp to power them? Should I stick with the Fosgate P5002 to power those, or should i switch to two V-Power MONO Amps (http://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls/admn/item_info?p_item_name=MRP-M350&p_category=40&p_subcategory=140&p_main=10&p_more=y), or something else?

And then, finally, the box. I've pretty much decided I want to build my own ported box for these, gives me a project and lets me build the box SPECIFICALLY for these subs. I just need more references on how to build it.

I picked up those TypeS speakers the other day, but now I'm thinking that I might want 30RMS and 150Peak is hella to low for what the amp is going to be pushing to them. I was looking at alpines site and found These beauties (Alpine CoAx 6 1/2" TypeR) (http://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls/admn/item_info?p_item_name=SPR-17LP&p_category=80&p_subcategory=90&p_main=10&p_more=y) and liked that 50RMS and 250Peak. The only problem is, the front of my XD2 hatch is made for 5 1/4"... I believe someone said that its possible to make a unique mount for them and stick 6 1/2" on anyway, is that easy? I want to stay away from component in front because I have no set spot for tweeters and dont want to mount up top and my dad doesnt want to get those new handle pannels quite yet for the tweeter. Should I make that switch over to the 6 1/2" up front?

The front speakers are 6-3/4 OEM. Most speakers (like the Alpine Type-S) come with brackets so you can mount the 6-1/2 in the 6-3/4 hole.

Also, from everything people said, the best sound distributin comes from using either Type-S or Type-R, but not intermixing them.

I have:
Alpine SPS 170A 6.5" Speakers (front)
Alpine SPS 690A 6x9" Speakers (rear)

hum.... the rear speakers have OEM tweeter mounts dont they? And did those 6"x9" fit in well?

I have a sedan, so our rear speakers are different. The 6x9s fit fine in a sedan, but I'm guessing you should stick to 6-1/2s for the hatch. I'm not sure about your rear tweeter mounts...
