You can register now.

Just go to http://autocross.com/texasregion/ and click on the calendar, then click register under the October 23rd event.

I just got through registering under the FSP (Street Prepared) class. Cost is $25.

A friend of mine is also registered to drive my car, so it's gonna get a workout. And he'll be showing me some tips since he's done this before. We'll also have a digital camcorder with us to record the fine examples of driving technique. ;)

Well, it was fun at times. The weather kinda sucked though. It was cold and raining. My roommate with his RSX Type S got a dry run though and did really well. I've got a few pictures of his car on 3 wheels.

I had helped my brother a little with installing his Racing Beat front sway bar the day before. And he had installed the rear bar earlier that week. Those sway bars are extremely aggressive and prevent a lot of bodyroll. So his Mazda 6s was pretty well composed out there.

With my car I overcooked a corner early on my first run and spun out in the rain and nailed a cone. On that same run I hit another cone due to massive understeer. So my car was understeering, oversteering, and mostly I was just pushing it too hard on an extremely slick track. A couple runs later the track had dried up a little and I made a clean run with a somewhat decent time. Results should be posted some time today. I still have a lot to learn and if I wanted to be competitive I should probably set more negative camber in front and get better tires.

The weather tainted the experience a little, but it was still fun and I'm already planning to go to another event. :)
