While I was backing out of my garage and lowing my window while having my headlights out i heard a screetching sound almost like a belt slipping. It was comming from the drivers side of the engine compartment. What do you think it could be?, This only happend when I'm lowing my windows and have my headlight on and if i'm ideling.

Well, there aren't any belts on the driver's side of the engine. What it sounds like though is alternator related. I only say that because it only happens when you are putting a power-drain (headlights, windows) on the car without the engine revved up.

If you can get someone else to wind down the windows while you've got the hood open, you should be able to figure out which one of your belts is making the noise.

How many miles have you got on your car? It might just be time to change belts anyway, given that you have an '01.

Have the belts checked. Slipping belt = screeching / squealing under steering load, voltage load, AC load, etc.

I got the car with close to 80k miles it has 101k now. Maybe it is time for new belts.

I'm on my third set of belts and had the alternator replaced and mine is starting to do this again. 99K miles. Eff this car.

I have a "skeertching" noise coming from my engine bay - I diagnosed it as a noisy A/C clutch engagement. A/C works fine, is just noisy. Whenever the A/C compressor clutch engages (A/C on, defrost on, etc.), I hear a belt slipping noise.

In addition to this, I would like to ask if anyone else experiences what feels like -30 horsepower when the A/C is on... My EGT is quite sluggish when I use it.

My ac never turns off. I found this to be weird. They told me that it is a broken conection on one of my houses. Its a $400 problem. Either way it sucks.

for the a/c guys...

the sound you hear is normal, its the compressor going on

and yes, there are dyno sheets, you lose 17 whp with the ac on
