I have an engine sitting at my machanics shop all ready to be worked on, and I will be stopping by to get the work started. Any info on what I need to look into getting done will be much appriciated. So far some people know I have been collecting the pieces I want for my car and I am almost where I want to be so now the engine needs to be prepared for my turbo. I have now acuired an exhaust, spec 3 clutch and PP, vhr FW, I will be getting a quaife lsd within 2-3 months, turbo kit, eibach suspension and yaya bushings, rotora bbk. I will get an smt 6 and dual boost control to run a lower and higher boost. Anyway about the engine: I will be getting the TB & IM bored out and the heads, if needed, then I will know what size low compression pistons to get(probably wiseco), then pauter rods and I still don't know what to do about camshafts? Do I just get a set of intake and exhaust adjustable gears or do I get a different set of camshafts? There are some more things I don't have time to post right now but don't hold back any info. Thanks

just real quick, if you really want to be able to regulate boost levels, make sure that your external wastegate is attatched with some sort of priority in receiving exhaust gasses.

If its just a pipe welded on perpendicular to the flow of gasses, they wont "want" to leave through the wastegate.

the stock camshafts ought to be fine, unless you're planning on putting down alot of power, and at higher RPM. I think you'll be fine with a set of adjustable gears.

wiesco makes a good piston (crower also makes a good rod, carillo rods are "the best"), make sure your engine builder follows wiesco's boring reccomendation for the pistons, some machine shops will try to give you too large of a piston to wall clearance. make sure that you're not machining the bores until the pistons are in hand, and that each piston is assigned a specific bore so that you get the proper clearance.

maybe look into bearing coatings and piston skirt and dome coatings. calico is supposed to be the best, and there's also polydyn and techline, but techline doesnt do the applications of the coatings themselves, so you either have to go through a distributor or do it yourself....if you're interested in engine coatings, PM me, i've done quite a bit of research on it for our race team here.

make sure you neutral balance the clutch and flywheel assembly.

I think finding a good machine shop is the biggest challenge, good luck.
