I did a search before people flame me. Anyways . . . anyone changed the color of the glow for their cig lighter? Anyone a plastics engineer or anything? Maybe someone could make a mold and create blue or red or whatever colors of that green ring around the lighter? I would like to keep it lit up, but not in that ugly green. Anyone done this? Suggestions?

the plastic is not green it's the light. the plastic is more yellowish milkish color. change the bulb to red or cover it with red defuser. or solder in a red LED (but the light will probably be too focused). i took the green defused off and put a piece of red transparant vynil on some parts of that plastic piecve. it's not the best red but it sure beats green

Mine's white and I haven't done anything at all to it...even tho it does have a green diffuser on it, which I really don't completely understand.

Hmmm, maybe the lighting was poor, but the "clear" plastic ring around the cig lighter looked like a smoked green tint to it. Hmmm, I will see if I can find a blue light to replace it I guess. Would still be nice if someone made a UV active ring in different colors.

that is so not worth it. how about take the thing out and paint it whatever color you wish. that could work too. make it a thin coat and some light should still get through

Because then the light would be dim and dull. I am doing the door panels to blue LEDs and plan on doing the HVAC mod to bright blues/reds also. So would like to have that hideous thing atleast half way matching.

we had this discussion a while back, but we never determined which models had it and which ones didn't... but I believe the consensus was that if you have keyless, you have it... although there were a couple people with 01's that had keyless but no lighted ring.....

mine is lighted, but it doesnt stay lit for that long, maybe 2 secs before i put the key in after i open the door. as far as the 01s that don't have it, they are prolly from the 01alpha (if you will) and most people with 01s with the lighted key ring is the 01beta
