I want to mod my exhaust (big surprise there) but I dont know if by just adding a bolt on muffler and tip would yield any gains as opposed to getting an exhaust system swap for larger tubing. and yes, i know the swap would yield more gains, but my question is would a muffler and tip do anything at all?

it might... the stock muffler is fairly large and restrictive

If there is a gain I honestly don't think you would even be able to notice it. The stock exhaust has what 2x catalytic converters and 2x resonators right? So just making one of the resonators more freeflowing isn't too much of a difference...

thats what i was thinking, but i wasnt sure if just adding a muffler would do anything for acceleration. i know that it would add some noise to my car while idling. i was wondering if it were possible to remove the other resonator or would that get rid of one of the cats? stupid VA laws.... *shakes fist*
