Its actually pretty simple. Run your wire however you want it to get to your detector. Thats the simple part.

You have a few options on where to hook the power line. I chose to hook mine up to the Ciggarette lighter power line, but you can also use the 12V ACC wire on the back of your radio. You can hook it up to any 12V source really, but if you want to have it turn on with your car, use a supply that turns on with the car.... Hence the ciggarette lighter plug.

Enough of my rambling.

Oh I forgot, you can ground it to any metal spot on the car, just like you would your radio.

first should I put it at the top of windshield or bottom? next im going to run the wire on the top/bottom then along the passenger side under the glovebox to the cig lighter...

Theres the cable for the Cig lighter.. what do I cut.. and whats that big white thing in the cord? a resistor?

first should I put it at the top of windshield or bottom? It should go to the bottom, we (on XD check "search")did research on this a while ago & I was wrong thinking top was better, BUT i like mine just under the rearview mirror because you constantly looking at the mirror while you drive :D

The big white thing is an inline fuse.

As far as placement of a radar detector, you want it to have the most complete view of the road ahead & behind that is possibly can, without interfering with your vision or being too obvious. Ideally, the perfect place for one is the absolute dead center of your windsheild. That wouldn't exactly be very inconspicuous, though. :D

what diff does it make? and having it there also hides it from people outside (not putting it at the middle of window for that reason) its not to hard to break a wind shield and take a radar detector worth $300 and ebay.com  i know i have insurance that covers this stuff but its just a damn hassle
