I know that a guy used to make them and he disappeared, but if anyone has an extra set, im willing to buy a set off of anyone. either one will do, i can always just get blue bulbs. if i can find 2 sets of one color, that would be orgasmic, i want to try to put some in the back seat doors too.

Also, im trying to get an OEM HVAC face if anyone has that too. just PM me.

funny you should mention the doormarkers..

i found the DIY on newtib and it doesnt look half bad.. i was going to try it out whenever i had some free time.. and if it ended up good i was gonna try and get some more interest into it.. so if you dont find one within the next week or two i should be starting a group buy interest thing

not only that, but i want to cut into the back doors and wire some in so i would need to do a diy on that or if there is anything out there for cutting into the door cleanly that would help me out a lot

I think I have some extra clear ones hangin around, i made a bunch for my car and my girls car. trying different colors and all. I will take a look tonight, Now that I have said that, they dont have the tabs like the OEM ones. They just sit in there,I havent had one fall out yet, if you want to see them I have them in my members profile pics. i think it was called "work in progress".

I fibbed, I will post pics of them when I get home this evening.

I'm interested in doing this also... A group buy would be nice, though I have no idea where or how to organize such a thing.

first we need to get someone (most likely me i guess) or anyone else to start making them and getting teh GB setup again. too bad there are no companies that do this, it would make things so much easier.

the thing is, that i have little to no time to make these until the summer when i dont have to worry about school, and only have to deal with work (which will free up a lot of my time to do this for you guys)

Vampyrate

okay, but like i said, i wont have time to do this until this summer, maybe mid-late may so if anyone would like to give it a try before me, go right ahead.

vamp, if you can get them ready for the june meet im all for it. no rush. i am laying it off on the ''riceness'' nowadays, concentrating on turbo stuff mostly. afterwards, back to the riceage full throttle!!! :D

Vampyrate

haha, gotcha... but yeah
i really want mine by the meet as well...
so if anyone could post a link to the DIY on how to make them (i know they're out there) that would be very nice.

i just might make a bunch of each color (time restraints and all) and just sell em for really cheap at the meet or something. if someone has any that would fit the other hyundais, i just might take a stab at making a few for those that dont own xds

i dont know, im trying to find where the DIY was. oh and i combed the archive and searched everywhere, i cant find the original GB thread for this Super, was it deleted?

if i made them (at great expense to me i guess) i would go ahead and ship out to all those that paid and didnt receive them. but thats just me being overly nice... damn i wish i had time.

Guys, theres no DIY the guy got them made from a pro.

Here it is, the basics:

-you take out the stock one.

-Make a full mold (tricky part) out of some substance other than plastic.

-Once the mold is made, just poor melted plastic in, let dry, and voila!

and why dont you do this kewl? you seem to have it down... adn the mold can be made out of plaster easily... they tend to withstand high temps fairly well

the only thing i'm not sure of is how to make a mold that does the front side as well as the back side (clips).

i'm sure someone with a bit of knowledge about molding can shed a light upon us.

also, another reason is the fact that im up in canada, everyone would have to pay extra shipping... other than that, if i had the time and knowledge i would go for it.

kewl, its to the point where im willing to spend a weekend and drive up there to help you make them so i can get some, im pretty sure that others wouldnt mind paying a bit extra for shipping... as far as molding goes, hell talk to some fiberglass people in your area and see if they might be able to shed some light on the subject for you.

i doubt fiberglass would be able to mold into those little indentations on the plastic... but hey, i'll try to talk to whoever i know.

i will ask some dude i know that does fiberglassing, and give you guys an answer.

give me 1/2 days to try and reach him :)

Moving thread -- it no longer belongs in the marketplace.

i wonder if Clay would be a good mold? like i said im thinking about doing this too.. you can easily melt the plastic in like a pot or something on the stove (with a lid on the pot of course) and then pour it onto a hardened clay mold.. and from there just file off the rough edges and you've got it. if anyone knows if clay works.. i'll make these fo sho ditty lol.. and i can make it quicker than next year. even though im a college student i still have some free time so i could have a batch of say 10 pairs done in about 2-3 weeks time

I'd be down for seeing a set of clear ones if you ever figure out how to do them

Alright I was going to make these myself but I have way to many projects going right now, so I will let you guys in on a way to make these pretty cheap.

The stuff you guys need is Alumilite, check it out at www.alumilite.com , the mold would be made out silicone, and the covers are made out of casting resin. The clear is tintable so you can make any color you want.

DIY network featured this stuff, they made a tailight for an old car.

could someone please take this over? obviously everyone that has posted on this thread either really wants one or really doesnt have the time to put this up. super, do you think that you could make it part of the site's shop and have orders through there or would that just complicate things?

knottravesty
11-11-2005, 02:53 AM

Only one guy has ever made these, nobody else will have them.

He did contact me about selling them for him, but honestly he isn't reliable enough for me or anyone else to try to set up something like that.

I would've told him that since your trust in him has pretty much diminished, you would pay AFTER you received the products. So you don't lose money if you dont receive it :P
