I'm interested in these gauges.

For those of you who don't know, I drive a manual. Is there anyway I can cover up those letters for the Auto Trans. so that it looks like it was actually made for a manual? Or am i stuck with those?

Sorry if its been discussed before but im about to leave for class and had no time to search :(

maybe you can paint white over them...that's not the part that glows and you don't need to see the letters/numbers. also e-mail the seller and see they have them for a manual

Just order the correct ones. Email the seller and tell them you're looking for Manual gauges. Every set of reverse indiglos I've seen come in Manual or Auto faces - with or without the gear indicators. They are out there, not only have I seen them, but I had the manual ones before I got the correct Auto ones I have now.

if they're not available in manual, your best bet would be to paint them on the BACK. and make sure you match the white as much as possible...

maybe even as simple as taping a piece of paper to the back....

Covering the back will still make them visible. The way that part works is that it has printing on top of a clear area. The PNRD321 letters will show on top of the piece of paper, or white paint.

Sorry if I'm overlooking something, but those are generic pictures and aren't of our guages. If you order the new ones, they won't look like that, it will look like your stock ones just a different color.

The link above is of the 01-03 GLS gauges, which is what he has.

Sorry, I didn't realize there was a difference between GLS and GT guages...

Yea, the main difference is the OEM GLS gauges suck (I know, I have them).

Putting paper behind them does help alot...I ordered the auto ones before I realized it and my seller did not have any manual ones so I stuck with these.

Paki, I'd simply go with a varitation of gauges that'll work without modification.

My guages are for a Manual, but they work perfect in the auto (just covers the gear indicators). They don't have the "halo" effect that you want, but I'm sure modifying some won't work out as planned.

I've got these gauges too but I have an auto. I would recommend just buying something that is designed for your car's tranny type.

I myself like the indiglos, but have been looking at picking up the chrome outline things for the OEM gauge face and then purchasing the wine red glow gauges off of kspec...of course it's a little bit more money.

yeah i saw those recently.. im just hesistant to break down and spend $35 on it when i can get it for $20ish.. you know what i mean? if i can save $15 here i can spend it on something else.. like going towards that hvac led conversion :)

oh.. and is the digital invertor worth the $$$? or stick with analog? im gonna be sticking the switch in the coin holder to the left of the steering

You don't need the digital inverter. The 'normal' one is all you need. I really, really suggest paying the extra $15 to get what looks right with your transmission type. You don't want the interior of your car looking DIYed because you have the wrong part, to save $15.

Anyone else remember when indiglo gauges first came out for the Elantra? They were like $45-$50. (Mine are the same as Ilanpro posted, but Silver, not white).

I would also say get the right ones, you'll always be looking at them thinking they should look better. I wired mine to the cig lighter light, and ran the knob over to the glove box.

If they're made like the ones I have, you should be able to fill in the PRND... and barely be able to tell if you do it right....

That said, I think the one ilan posted look better than the ones in the original post, but if that's what you want, go for it.... Just make sure you make changes to the back.

If you don't like the results, you can always try selling them to someone else here...
