I was going to order the TWM shortshifter and knob combo today, but I don't want to order until I know what the differences are between the "High Caliber (especially the .44 Magnum)" and the "Classic" knobs. Anyone care to let me know?

Thanks.

dont waste your money on a knob. theyre like 75$ right? get the shifter, and use your stock knob (if you like it) or im sure you could pick up a REALLY nice knob on ebay for 40-50$ if you want somethin new

A weighted shift knob sounds good though... :)

I jut looked at eBay and all the ones on there don't look very nice/good...

Maybe I can order just the short shifter and if I don't like how it is with the stock knob they will give me the 20% discount on the knob if I order it later...

Also, my question still hasn't been answered :(

probably the weight on the knobs is the difference. dont buy a universal autozone knob, buy one on ebay that has the same threads

If I remember right, the "High Caliber" knobs are available in a couple of different shapes, and are heavier than the classic ones. Check their website. It'll tell you the differences and let you look at each one. They have a seperate page just for the shift knobs.

Yup. They have specs listed for each knob stating its dimensions and weight. The High Caliber series are considerably heavier than the classics.

Yeah, I was just wanting to know all the differences between them, if anything other than weight and style. I emailed them to find out, and thats the only main difference.

Thanks guys.

Hmmm.. if I remember I might remove my stock knob tonight to see how much it weighs in grams. I wish the TWM knobs weren't so expensive. It'd be nice to see how much of a difference a weighted knob would make. The stock knobs seems to be weighted already, but I'm not sure how much they weigh.

^^^ same thoughts for me... i wouldnt want to buy a knob that weighs less than stock.

If someone would find out how much a stock 05 gls shift knob weighs it would be extremely helpful in making my decision... :)

OK guys,
I weighed the stock knob, (non-leather version), it comes up at exactly 200 grams.

Personally I have the B&M knob (came with shifter), and I'm most pleased with it (except on those extremely hot days, maybe the freezer idea will come in handy...).

I think paying that much money for a shift knob isn't right, it really can't make that much difference in the speed of the shift.

Thanks for weighing the stock knob for me, TWM sent me an email saying that the classic knobs they sell are around 440 grams (1lb) and the high caliber knobs they sell are 585-590 grams (1.25lbs).

I think I might just go ahead and get one, I don't think it's that bad, with the Halloween special and my student discount, it wouldn't be as much as it normally would...

Seinster, what's the freezer idea?

lol i belive he was talking about my comment about having a b/m shifter knob in the freezer. the b/m knobs are metal and get extremly hot on hot days and it burnt my hnd so i threw it in the freeze and put the stock one on....now it just stays there :)

The stock leather knob also weighs exactly 200 grams.
