Ok, so you know in Dumb and Dumber, when the guy is like "you want to hear the most annoying sound in the world..."
WELL.
I know what beats that. It's our freaking fire alarm. It's been on for TEN MINUTES and it's the most mind piercing sound that I've ever heard before in my life. I want to scream, but even the best scream that I could muster would not stand the chance of competing with this noise.
OK IT'S BEEN ON SO LONG THAT I WANT TO GNAW MY FACE OFF!!! TURN IT OFF. Don't these people know that I'm on nightshift tonight and need to sleep right now.

Usually when a Fire Alarm is sounding in my dorm... I dont sit there and continue typing on my Pc... its mostly a time for getting the F out of there...

Yeah, normally myself as well, but the guy that lives in the apartment below us said that it's gone off twice already today. They did something in the apartment building today that made it all hot and humid, and apparently so much that the fire alarms started going off. Thanks though.

I just turned on my heat for the first time and the smoke detector is about 3 feet from one of the vents, so not even 5 seconds later it started going off, FUN.
I think it's ok now.

The noise stopped about half an hour after it started, so my sanity has been returned to me now.
Super, what's the weather like there at the moment?

Every apartment I've lived in has had so many false alarms. We use to get out of the building for the first few, but we just keep an eye for any smoke now since they have all been false alarms. It's gotten so bad that the fire dept started charging the building not only the regular fees, but fines for each one.
I've also noticed with the past 3 alarms on the cameras that if the alarm goes off, one of the staff turns off the alarm now. And no fire trucks arrive, which is a bit of a concern. I mean how is this chinese maintence guy certified to say there is no fire.

Yeah, that is a little bit of a concern. Also, the truck didn't arrive until 40 minutes after the alarm started. Either way, it wasn't the best way to be woken up for the night shift tonight.
Have a good night everyone.

Good luck Super, when I lived in that same building the Fire Alarm went off 3 times in one year, all of which were in the winter, and of course at night. It's lots of fun to get out of bed and scramble outside and wait for the fire truck to come.

I hear them all the time. I do installs, so I am usually working when they do the fire alarm tests for their CO, plus I get the satisfaction of being blinded by the strobes too.
