Even though I always lose, about once every 3 or 4 months I'll try to play online poker.
I don't know about you guys, but I can never freakin seem to win at it. No matter how good my hand is, it seems like someone always has a hand bigger than mine.
Any of you play online poker? if so do you ever win money? I've lost $200 in the last week alone.

I play on party poker but with play money, if im gonna gamble for real ill go to Atlantic city and play blackjack, which i do very well. I dont trust online gambling, I rather physicaly have the card in my hand than trust some site. but thats just me.

My brother plays online all the time. Wins some, but has been on a cold streak lately. The most he's ever take off the internet in a day was like $1,400, although one of his friends cashed out $5,000 twice in a month. They play on full-tilt.
I prefer smaller-pot 'for fun' real-life games opposed to the win/lose a bunch stakes some people play. If I lose $20 in a night, that sucks - but I can manage. If I dropped several hundred, I would be uber-depressed.

I also love having poker parties with my friends at home.
I go to Vegas about every 2 months or so and gamble, but I'm always too intimidated to play real poker at real casinos. I don't know what it is, but it's probably the fact that I've never really been properly taught on how to play poker. We play for chump change with my buddies.
I think I always go back to online poker because of all the hoopla that TV makes about poker. It's kind of exciting watching the pros play. I try to practice with the "play money" game, but you don't really learn much from that because everyone just goes "all in". And I get tired quickly of play money games. It kills time but it's also a waste of time.
I'll probably just stick to my Vegas Blackjack.

how much is he buying in? I usually start with $50 or $25 buy ins playing the 50c/$1 texas hold em.

I don't think I'd ever play online for real money.
I use to play at Pokerstars a lot.

I love playing poker, but I'm the same way about playing at the real casinos.. Too chicken. I usually do good against buddies and stuff though. I like 5 card draw, 7 card stud... that type, not the new craze of texas holdem. I think it's rediculous how it's always on tv now and in restaurants with the little game systems and stuff.
I used to go to Biloxi a couple times a year, not sure how it's going to be after the hurricane. I used to go to Vegas once or twice a year when I worked on jets. I dropped $1500 in 2 weeks the last time I went though, gotta avoid the big casinos ;) I was playing every night at the Luxor, Ceasars palace, Paris, etc. I always did better playing at the small unknown places. Plus you could play blackjack for like $1 a hand at the small places, instead of $10-$25 minimums.

...same.
I was always a firm believer that party poker is a scam.
They pimp it so much on so many mediums, that it'd be weird if it wasn't. :D
But hey, if you know people who have won the cash, !!!
I did try it once, but I suck at poker.
Blackjack is a game I like, but I suck at that too. :)
The slot machines is where its at....

My brother and his friends 'cheat' the system a lot too. They set up a LAN with 2-3 of them and all play in the same poker room, so they know what cards eachother has, and can use that as an advantage to fleece the other players in that room. Don't know why the sites don't block more than 1 player from the same IP from being in the same room - but that's one version of online poker scamming. (now that I think about it, I guess it doesn't matter, because you could be in 2 differnt places with diff IPs and use a telephone to call your cards out).

Don't even need a phone, just AIM.

Or you could have like 3 computers and play as 3 different ppl at the same table by yourself ;)

Hmmm... I never even thought of that, about using multiple computers and knowing each other's hands.
There's something about the way PartyPoker's cards are generated that sometimes makes me skeptical. It doesn't seem to be as random as it should be. It tends to favor towards giving people straights or a flush more often than not. It never fails that when I have a good hand, someone has a better hand.
I tried playing PartyPoker's BlackJack version also and I was doing well at first, but then started moving towards $5 bets instead of $1, and I lost pretty quick. I definitely did not like their Blackjack. I hated the fact that the cards are never shuffled. Every hand is a random hand I'm assuming. I guess that's probably to prevent card counters, but it throws me off since I'm used to single deck Vegas Blackjack.
Another thing I've noticed about PartyPoker's Blackjack is that the dealer seems to pull cards out of his *** and constantly pushes with you. I win more often when the dealer's upcard is a 10 or a face card than when he's showing me bust cards. When the dealer has 4,5, or 6, the house is consistently beating me.
Blackjack is just a game of luck but there are mathematics behind it and I've played it long enough and at so many different casinos that I know what to expect from the game, but playing it online is just a totally different dynamic. Something seems a bit fishy to me with these online gambling sites.

I have the worst luck with gambling. I've lost hundreds of dollars playing on PartyPoker. The one time they decide to give me $20 free in my account with the rule that I can only cash out after 200 raked hands, I'm now at $400 after a $200 single bet on their BlackJack game. I wasn't even expecting the $20 long enough for me to even finish the 200 raked games.
Maybe I just need to play with other people's money from now on lol. I never seem to win with my own.

yeah, I've played 100 on party casino. I'm more of a fan of the Roulette than poker, but I get into party poker every now and then if I feel smart. Usually break even.

meh, put in the minimum once, and haven't added anything since. I've been hovering around 100 since. Wouldn't add anything else to it later if I lost it all. Just a once off thing that's lasting as long as it's lasting.
