A few weeks ago I got really sick of looking at the pale pink GT badge on the back of my '02 Hatch, but I really like the look of the car with the badge on it. Not wanting to De-Badge my car, and also not wanting to pay for a new badge from the dealer, I decided to try a little experiment first.

All I did was color over all the surfaces carefully with a red Sharpie. I know, it sounds way ghetto, but it actually turned out quite well. I'm very pleased. You would never know that it wasn't a new badge unless you get up to within 6 inches or so. (If you're that close, you can see slight variations in color depth caused by the strokes of the marker.) I'm pretty darn pleased with the results for the price. (Just the cost of a red Sharpie!)

After a few weeks, the color variations are starting to become less and less noticable, so I don't know how well this will hold up to the elements, but for now it looks WAY better than it did! It looks brand new right now! (I'll try to get another pic sometime in the next few weeks. That first "After" shot was taken a few seconds after I had finished, so it wasn't even completely dried yet.)

you could also tape off the entire trunk area, and then using more finely cut tape.. tape off the black edges of the badge itself, then just use red spray paint over it ....

:) Your mod looks quick and dirty !!! MY FAVORITE !

Looks good, but is it me or are the pics not showing... for me to see them i had to "quote" ken, then copy paste the links in his image brackets... and then they worked fine as separate windows...

I can't see the pics either, but I did exactly what you did Kenshin. I used the red sharpie with the flat tip. It fades again after awhile, but all you have to do is keep coloring it.

yep, that was heard of before... its in some older threads

nice that you still came up with the same idea by thinking on your own

Hmm... Interesting. This was kind of a test to see if I could get the pics I have hosted at Yahoo to show up here. Odd that some people can see them and others can't. They show up fine here at work. Anyways, yeah, the sharpie worked pretty well. Thanks for the replies. I figured it might fade again, but hey, it's cheaper to re-color it after a while than it is to buy a new badge, and it looks pretty darn good for now.
