I recently crashed and had to do my CAI over again, and turned out with a few small problems. First off, I got a check engine light, has this ever happened to anyone after installing an intake??? Also, my car idles at 1200 rpms, I dont think thats normal according to the last intake I had. I went to the dealer and he said he cant fix my check engine light because of my CAI, and tells me I have to bring everything back to stock in order to get help under warranty. Has anyone had this problem? I need someone to answer whether or not it is possible to get a check engine light from an intake and whether or not idling at 1200 is healthy. also what should i do about the check engine light? I need help with all these question previously stated, anyone? thank you.

after installing the cai did you resent the ecu? disconnect the neg. battery terminal and let it sit for about 15-20 minutes.

Ok, so you crashed and had to replace the CAI, correct? All we are talking about here is removing the old piping and putting in the new piping, which I HIGHLY doubt would be the cause of any of your problems. It sounds to me like a sensor or two were put out of whack during the crash. Has your high idle been happening since the crash itself? Usually, resetting the ECU will re-load the sensors, but since you have tried this already with no improvement then there must have been something that was busted in the crash. That's about all I can think of. If you have your stock intake parts, throw em on, shouldn't take more than 15 minutes, then go back to your dealer and see what they can find.

Check and make sure your vacuum hose is secured.

yeah it soudns to me as if you have a leak... at least the higher idle is what year is your car? if its the CVVT engine the MAF sensor might not be attached correctly so maybe thats the source of the light

if its got the MAF on it, make sure u didnt put it on backwards...ur car doesnt work like that...i found out the hard way lol. other then that i agree with cypher in that it sounds like you have a leak. if it seems like its bogging down then gaining surges of power, check all connections and such

Shouldnt you disconnect the positive terminal when flashing the ecu? If you were to disconnect the neg, couldnt you fry something?

nope you disconnect the neg terminal than stomp the brake to get all residual power out of the car... per fords way i've started turning the key as if to start it to drain the ecu

I have a 2003 hatchback elantra, checked if everything was connected, it is. so im stuck from here. I guess I will go back to the shop that fixed my car and have them check it out or maybe put back my stock filter and have the dealership check it out. Anyway, my car works perfectly, there is no stuttering of the engine or anything like that, so its gotta be the sensors or something, anyone know what it could be?
