Hallo!

I finally decided to replace my MAF sensor to TB intake hose (Part #28139-2D250). Because the mod that I had made to my original one made my cars performance worse. Increased fuel consumption and poorer throttle response. Not to mention you guys don't like the black tape I used. (FordFasteRR)

So, I called up my Hyundai parts guy (which is in Edmonton, 3 hours away) to price one out and order it for me. I was quoted $78.00CDN plus taxes and shipping or I could save on the shipping and drive to Edmonton and pick it up. That's about a tank of gas return @ $0.989/L.

It just happened to be that a day later, I was helping my neighbour replace headlight bulbs on his 2004 Kia Spectra. That I noticed that his MAF to TB tube looked the same as mine. So, I compared part numbers and sure enough they are exactly the same numbers.

Well, I figured that seeing as how there is a Kia dealer in my town. I should check to see if they could order one for me. Even if they were the same price, I would at the least save on gas or shipping.

Boy! I am I glad I did. The Kia parts guy quoted me about $45.00CDN. At this point, I didn't mention to him how much the Hyundai dealer was going to charge me in case he had quoted me the wrong price.

I then called my Hyundai parts guy and promptly cancelled my order. About a week later, my part showed up at the Kia dealer.

And this is what I got.

There is nothing on the bag that even says Kia. It's even from a Hyundai dealership.

And my invoice from Kia.

In case you can't make out the price, it reads $43.95CDN + tax. That's a $34.05CDN savings over Hyundai. I then informed the Kia parts guy the price difference and told him that I would be back to see him the next time I needed a OEM part that is the same on Kia as on Hyundai.

Here's a picture of old and new.

And the new one installed.

So, the next time you are looking for an OEM Hyundai part. Get a Hyundai quote and then check with a Kia dealer to see if they can get the part for you for cheaper.

doesnt suprise me. hyundai owns kia. hell, if you look @ some parts under your hood (i think the oil pan for one) is stamped Kia. its probably just one of those things to save money by not having to print 2 bags for the same part

that's no different than any other company that owns two or more brands. look under the hood of a lexus, you won't see any "lexus" stamped parts. only toyota...

anyway, great find!

same thing with isuzu, there are honda parts and emblems all over the place. i even found some on the running boards of my mom's rodeo. i'm so sad that honda is gonna cancel isuzu and mesh them in with the honda product line. i like the rodeo a lot better than the passport (even though they are essentially the same exact car)
