Hi,
Fujita air is building intake system for Elnatra and need your input.
www.f5air.com
They are testing their product on an elnatra right now and trying to decide if they should bring out either CAI or SRI.
As you all know that CAI usually gives little more power gain than SRI but CAI usually cost more than SRI.
Okay here is the thing:
*CAI = more gain but cost increase
*SRI= filter sits behind the battery but still gives close gain to a CAI, but more affordable price
BTW, the applications are for 04 and up with MAF sensor... (Beta2/vvt)
Please give us your advise by posting replies...
Thanks.

We've already talked with Fujita about this (there was another post about this). Many of us voiced our opinions.
I don't want to go too off topic, but weren't you suppose to make the Concepto kit available for us?

I'm actually looking for an intake for my 05 Elantra GT. I'm looking for a SRI and would be interested in buying from Fujita if they chose to produce a product.
I used to own an 02 Elantra GLS and have had several different types of intakes installed (Weapon R SRI, Ebay CAI designed for 97-01 Tiburon, and KORE CAI). The Weapon R seemed to give me some gains, but seemed to lose some of the extra power when it warmed up outside. The Weapon R filter was cheaply made, in my opinion. The ebay one seemed a litter better, but the routing of the pipe was not optimal. Its the route Injen used for the 97-01 Tiburon (route of pipe came near exhaust manifold). The KORE intake seemed to produce the most power overall in both warm and cold weather. I added an AEM bypass valve to the KORE intake and noticed some power loss. Even with the bpv, I was always worried that the intake would suck in some water during wet weather. That is why, if I decide to get another intake, it will be a SRI. The front end bumper on the 04+ Elantra is more open than in the 01-03 model, which means a lot more water and dirt will be hitting that filter in the fender.
I've seen the picures of the 03 Tiburon I4 CAI and SRI. And it looks like Fujita already has applications for the 04-06 Tiburon I4. I don't see a problem using the same SRI application used on the 04-06 Tib I4 for the 04+ Elantra. There may be more of an issue with the CAI. For one thing, the diameter of the intake tube is probably larger than 2.5", which means the user will still have to make the hole (going into the fender) wider. And depending on the bend before the hole, the battery on the Elantra may or may not have to be moved. I'm sure the techs at Fujita are seeing what I'm talking about, since they are supposed to be prototyping it.
I would hope that Fujita Air decides to produce either SRI or CAI. It would make Fujita the only "brand" intake company producing an intake specific to the Elantra (Sorry, I didn't include Weapon R because their reputation for quality it not so good). And yes, or course anyone can still buy an Accord CAI off of Ebay but I'd rather not. I've seen some of the prices for the Fujita intakes. They are kind of pricey but judging from the pictures, quality seems to be up there. If they can get CARB approval on their intakes, to me, that would be even more justification for me to purchase one, since I live in California.

I would chose a CAI, I like having the extra power.

I think you should poll this to see which one (CAI without bpv, CAI with bpv for more money and SRI for the cheapest option) people are interested in buying here. Like stated above the SRI from the 03-06 Tiburon I4s should work fine. Also if you could put up pics of these prototypes, (the tiburon ones, or ones on other cars with similar design) it will make it ezer to see what people are going to buy.

I believe that a CAI would be better for the engine and for those who are looking for a little more hp. Fujita just needs to focus on the piping that comes from the manifold towards the front. The pipe needs to made at an angle where it wont hit the brake fluid reservoir. Also creating an anchor bracket to hold the intake from vibrating against any metal part in the car. I would say one bracket that fits at the same place where the fuse box is attached to the suspension. And another bracket attached to the bottom of the tube to keep from moving. Also create the intake to fit in the hole on the side closest to the battery that goes into the fender well but dont make it to long where the filter sits really low. I constructed an intake for my 05 and it sits just high enough so that if i happened to go through a puddle or flood it wont suck water up. but it sits really close to the open air ram bumper. but i plan to fix that soon with some gls covers that go around the foglight and an injen filter wrap. but back onto the subject...the tube shoot just come short of the hole next the battery that goes into the fender wall and then place the filter flange through that hole...allowing the filter sit up really high into the fender well. hopefully this helps and has not been mentioned before. which probably has...later elantra drivers....

they should make it in a 2 or 3 piece configuration so it can be switched back and forth as cai/sri. and in cai form should be able to put a bypass valve on it. it should also be 2.5 in. because that has been found to be the most efective for power and torue for I4 engines. the k&n intake for the accord I4 is 2.5 piping.as is the aem.

I just got back from Fugita and the SRI make more power on our engines then the CAI. This backs up my own dyno's with the same type of setups.

was the piping diameter the same?

If ANYONE makes a carb approved cold air intake for the elantra. I WILL buy it.
Requests: 2.5", 3 piece, already made for either xd or xd2

2.75 seems to be the best diameter...
cai intake is the only way to go...
you can not trust in dynos to give you an accurate discription of a cai...the car is not moving...and the hood is open...the intake and filter will be completely heat saturated after just a couple of minutes.

he has a point.....doing about 20 will most likely add 1 hp to the dyno...most ppl do about 60....compared to the sri you will lose power due to heat...do the math

Not to come off topic but K&N is putting a SRI w/shroud out for the kia spectra 4.5+ which shares the betaII engine. But the kicker is that are talking 230$ retail. What kind of price is Fujita looking at for a SRI and or CAI.

I bought a Cai from Fujita. It was a bit pricey. I used the application for ( 4 cyl.) 03-05 Tibby. It fits quite well. My only complaint was the battery tray contacting the pipe issue. I could post some pics if anyone is interested in how it looks....

CAI, but even then I would stick with my ebay CAI for $40. I'd considering upgrading the filter but outside of that, I'm fine with the ebay route for a CAI.

Please close this thread... This is a old thread.
Fujita air decided not to produce any parts for Elantra.....
I had told them that there isnt really a market to produce.
If anyone still wants to get a high quality intake system you can still get a Tiburon application and modify to fit..... If anyone interested in more details feel free to PM me or message me.
