after going through some threads i see mentions of getting plugs for turbos and short mentions of people getting ready to put S/Cs in and such... so i was wondering how many of you have or have had FI?? not including nitrous.

During the 3-4 day installation I will keep a thread with all that I do :)

I'm also part of the group of potentials.
Buying a custom turbo app from a friend who has an RD2 tib.
Everything included...supposibly.

Oh we're not potentials :) We're all 100% sure lol you're a lonely gunman for now Keyan in your group LOL
btw postup some info about what you are getting in the kit so we can tell you what's up :)
It's a shame your car is an auto :(

cool!
question for you guys who deal with speedfactor:
i know you will be using the vortec fmu with your beta yamaha, what about you clarion, what fuel management will you be using?
yamaha
11-10-2005, 03:25 PM
The Vortech FMU can handle up to 8psi on stock injectors, for the BetaII, there will be an upgrade to 290cc inkectors, there is no fuel management for the BetaII, the ECU will compensate and adjust properly according to Tim.

I had the first production GUDE Kit, then moved on to a Garret T3 Super 60 setup, the turbo had problems with it from the factory (currently awaiting a warranty, so I can sell it)...
Right now have moved up to a Turbonetics T3/T4 .63ex / .60comp turbine -- Custom setup, should be finished in Dec/Jan (been in the shop since 9/15, but they got cars before me)...
:) And I have a fully built engine. (cams, rods, pistons, overbore, all p&p, head & valve job) and a pretty well built tranmission (shortened first gear, spec stage 5 clutch, spec lightweight aluminium flywheel, and putting in a modified quiaffe (sp?) lsd soon) -- And the fuel system is on a Greddy eManage Ultimate, 660cc+ injectors, 255lph walbro pump, aeromotive FPR, polished fuel rail w/pressue gauge.
Currently thinking about using a wet nitrious kit... Going to wait and see the outcome of the numbers on full boost (so, we're talking 20+psi, whatever the best tune is) before we consider nitrious...
And I will be using drag radials...
Of course I have a tiburon, but it's the same Beta II engine ;)
Oh and I have all greddy electronics - Greddy PRofec e-01 Boost Controller & Greddy Turbo Timer...
:) Enjoy ~!
Like I said, the car should be done in Dec / Jan so dyno results will be posted ASAP.

Damn, what do you do for a living, thats a crazy setup.
I work in IT related feilds..
I say related cause I'm what you call a multi-talented person.
I do it all from Networking, Programming, Design, Developement, Product Placement, Consulting, Staffing, etc... :)
So far $24k (if you want the exact numbers, it's now, $23,976.29) into my car not including this cost of the car itself. Also not including this setup -- and I still gotta have the front bumper fitted and some spots touched up where the paint is pealing (damn factory pos paint).
But I really make crappy money :) I just won a few law settlements... ;)

All his turbo kits have a similar problem, even the focus guys had the problem, they piping is too small of a diameter, therefore creates unwanted back pressure, which causes the turbo to overboost -- I was on a 6psi wastgate boosting 12psi to 15psi... lol ~
Plus Bill is about 70 years old, I called every day for almost two months and spoke to him to weed out the problems with the kit... (since I had the first one) -- and well, he forgot my name every day...
Sometimes, I'd call and say "it's Henry with the Tiburon..." and five minutes into the conversation, he forgot what car we were talking about or what even we were talking about...
nice guy yes...

what kind of rod and do you have the part # for the rods, and what valves do you have

do you feel you've lost any reliability with your cars now that you have turbos installed on them? or do you feel the engine handles it rather nicely?

Rods are Pauter Rods... I'll see if I can get you the part number, I don't have it off hand...
Valve job is custom, I believe *** believe *** they used parts for mistu engines, not really sure off hand, I would have to ask the shop that has my car right now...

the beta responds very well to boost...and will be very reliable as long as its tunred correctly....

My engine feels just as reliable as it was before, its just a whole lot funner to drive. This may seem odd to you guys, my car before turbo (all I had was a CAI) I was getting around 28 in the city and 33 on the highway. After the turbo I get around 35 in the city and 44 on the highway....huge difference in fuel economy. Makes sence though because the timing was advanced, plus turboes are very efficient power adders!

I was actually getting better gas mileage on the 290cc injectors with the GUDE kit because we had overboost problems... Also before the problems the engine reliability seemed steady... But like I said that was all before the problems with the kit...
After all the problems I had upgraded the pistons, which I got a bad wrist pin from RE / Tigerlilly and the shop that installed the pistons didn't realize it... till it spun the bearing and we had to rebuild the whole bottom end...
Thats why there is so much work done to my engine... LOL
I got to drive the car on 9:1 pistons, w/crank shaft work, w/engine work, w/head work, w/clutch / fgr change / lightweight flywheel, basically everything but the turbo setup and cams at the time... for about maybe a month before trying to put on the T3 Super 60 setup... And ran about 5k miles and the engine seemed fine in reliability -- actally better... and to be honest, I never felt the clutch system feel so gdamn smooth (also replaced all the hydraulic systems of the clutch system, the master and slave cylinders, because the blew out some how the slave failed and then the master failed...)
So.... We'll see with the next setup soon how reliable it will be, probably more reliable since it will actually be tuned this time... LOL -- GUDE kit never got tuned.
