Hello,
I was beginning to research the possibilities for the body for my 2004 elantra gt sedan, and had a couple questions if anyone knows or could point me in the right direction...
Anyways if I am going to do anything to the body it deffinetly has to have fender flares such as these below:

I really like the look of the first pic, which I believe to be the zefiro body kit on a 2003 and below elantra, with custome fender flares? So my first question is I know that zefiro doesn't make a body kit for the 2004 yet, but would it be possible to modify the 03 body kit to fit or would it just be too far off?
Also the r34 kit for the 2004 doesn't look too bad either:

But would custome fender flares look good on this you think? I deffinetly like the zefiro kit look better so thats why I am curious if its possible to make it fit or not.

I am still considering doing the body work myself or paying a shop to do it. I have done body work and paint jobs before so I somewhat know what I am doing, though I have not done custome fender flares before. I found this link which seemed pretty helpfull:

Has info on how this guy did custome fender flares on his audi a4, which looks sick btw! I want to do something like this guy did on my elantra. Does anyone have any more information on this kind of stuff, or good places to buy the actual fender flare meterial?

I am imagining he wielded the flare meterial to the car panel, then trimmed behind it, sanded the wields and bondoed it? How would you get the flare to attach to the plastic/fiberglass bumper though, as you oviously can't wield the flare to that meterial?

Also would there be any problems with getting rims/tires and spacing the wheels out with wheel spacers so that they match along with the flares?

Thanks any help is greatly appreatiated!

i was under the impression that most of the flair kits you buy are made of fiberglass and you simply have them molded onto the body of the car. i haven't really seen any really seen any real metal flairs that were not custom made. from what i can tell of the link you have thats what it looks like that guy did. if you plan on going that route then the best thing i can tell you to do is to epoxy the metal to the glass. this all sounds like a lot of work is it something that you are sure you want to put the time and money into? me personally if i was gonna do it i would prolly go with fiberglass flairs and then you can do most of the work yourself, if you feel confident enough, and not need a mig-welder. either way good luck and don't forget that we all wanna see pics.

Its soo much cheaper doing it yourself than paying someone to do it. I like these kind of time consuming projects, keeps me busy and out of trouble lol

Molding the metal is fairly easy if you know how and have the right tools to do this. An English wheel is required to get the curves right, but you have to be able to use the tool right in order to get the panel you are making smooth. The English wheel is not easy to learn how to use. It looks easy, but it took me a year to learn to use it correctly. A tig welder is also necessary.

With the poly plastic parts, it is best if you have those custom made. Adding a piece to them does not work that well; it tends to fall off.

English Wheel, is this the thing that rolls out metal? Like the tool that they use a lot for making fenders on motorcycles? I would wrather just buy a premade universal fender and then custom fit it to the body instead of trying to roll out a fender from metal.
Yeah I have tons of tools, got the TIG also.

Sounds like a lot of work but it'd be sweet to have fender flares. And it could give you the chance to install something crazy like 235/40-17 tires on 17x8" wheels.

Here's another XD with fender flares (copy & paste URL into browser)...

With custom fenders comes custom wheels... prepare to spend alot!

All you would need to do is pick generally whatever rim you want, then compensate for the offset with wheel spacers...
