Ok, I have searched and read alot of info on installing these gauges, but I cant find any info on these problems:

1. I installed Reverse Glow gauges using SuperGLS's DIY. In it, they are installed through the Dimmer Switch. I have this done, and it all went good. Now with my gauges, there is a thin, on/off button. The only way I can cut the gauges on, is off my lights are on. With the lights on, power is able to reach the gauges, so the on/off button will work. To those that have these, is there a way to set them, or do something, so I wont have to press the button to cut them on?

2. When installing the gauge over the fuel needle, I moved it a little to get them on. Im having a problem with this needle, because unlike the others, this one stays in the same position, when you cut the car off. So now that I moved the needle, I think my fuel reading is off (It was readin 1/4 tank when I only had like 2 galons in my car). So I went ahead and filled up my car. The needle moved past the F (about 1/8 tank line farther). Since then, ive driven 200 miles. When at 150 miles or so, the needle was just below the F line. Now Im at like 225 miles, and its 3/4 fuel mark. I dont think this could be right tho.

I think I kno how to fix problem #2. I think my fuel needle may be offset by 1/4-1/3. Im going to let it run to E. If the needle isnt at E, Ill move the needle to the E line, then fill it up, hopefully setting it back to normal.

as far as the switch goes.. why not just keep it in the On position.. that should work.. so whenever you turn your lights off it turns off (no power) and when you turn them on it turns on (power is going to it and switch is already on)

Ill have to try that Paki. I gotta figure out a way to keep that thin button pressed down.

Update.....

My fuel gauge seems to have fixed itself. I went out to my car, and it was at 1/4 tank at ~300 miles of city and speeding miles.

I was also able to hardwire my rmk_speed gauges to stay on. What I did was I stripped the the wire going to that flimsy button. I then connected the two sides of the wire, and spliced them into the red cable (power?).By doing so it bypasses the need to push the button for the gauges to light up. Now they just come on automatically when the lights are turned on.

jeez, why would they have made a push-button to make the gauges light up? That sounds kinda stupid for this application. My glo-gauges just came with leads before the inverter, one + and one -, splice them in to something switched off the parking lamps (like light for the cigarette lighter) and voila - power when the lights are on..

Yea I know. The button was so freaking cheap that it broke the 3rd. It was one of those cheap *** contact buttons where when you push in the button, the metal on the button connects two lines of metal tape.

Ohhh, I see. When we were talking about this the other night I thought you wanted them to stay on ALWAYS when the car was on. But you simply meant when the lights were on (like everybody else's gauges). Glad you got it working.

arun, would it be possible to do the reverse of that? like i have the same thing, but i have the power wires running into the constant power of the car and the on/off button and i was wondering if you could wire the power button into the dimmer switch and still have it work?

Are you saying you have the gauges with the flimsy on/off push button? If so, you may have the same ones I did.

What I did:

1. I spliced my gauges right into the dimmer switch. (as shown in Supergls DIY)
2. There should be a cable with two prongs on the end. Your flimsy on/off button should then connect to these prongs. What I did was I stripped this cable (its two sided), and spliced then together.
3. I then took this same cable and spliced it into the dimmer switch cable that is spliced into the red cable on the dimmer switch.

Viola mine worked as soon as I turned on my lights. I hope this helps. Hit me on Aim if you need any help.

I would suggest using another source than the dimmer switch. For glow gauges with a power inverter, if you use the dimmer, you will mess with your gauges glow in reverse (dim your OEM lights, the gauges get brighter, and visaversa). Better power supply for glow gauges is the cigarette lighter light.

i ran the power into the car's constant power, would it still work if i ran the switch wires into the dimmer?
