so far I have never seen anyone mention the GUDE turbo kit for the beta 2. has anyone bought it. I contacted them and it seems like a great kit...just no ecu control. thats about the only downfall. Im thinking about it. although it has been a few months since I have visited the site, and I just read about the speedfactor basic kit. which might be worth a shot for some quick and dirty horses.

Nobody has the GUDE kit here as far as I know. Nobody really reps that product, so maybe that's why nobody is interested.

ladmixz said, a few times in the past weeks that he bought the first GUDE kit ever made and had a very bad experience, as well as anyone else who has purchased that kit because gude is an old fart and all his turbos explode

I bought a Gude turbo back in July of 2003 and it took them 9 months to get me all of the parts for it. They are crappy people to deal with and will lie to you to get you off the phone. I never did get to install it seing that I lost my job shortly after I recieved the last shipment. I sold it to rufsaysthecat who is a member on this board. You might want to contact him for more info on the actual fitment and how it is working in his car. My advice would be to piece your own kit together. If you have anymore questions you can PM me.

GUDE Kit = Worthless, just like his focus kits...
Main reason is the small diameter of piping used on all his kits and the poor downpipe design... Not to mention the crap-a$$ weild job that was done on the manifold - had tons of holes in the weilds...
Basically, the small diameter of the piping combined with the small turbo that was usually fully spooled by around 2500 -- caused some insane back pressure... and in combination with the poor down pipe design and the internal wastegate setup, it basically left it open for boost creep and over boosting....
After trying to weed out the problems with Bill Gude, he just never could understand how his kit could over boost... Odd, when everyone else that knew the business (meaning turbo setups) could tell me exactly why.. But it never really came to me until I was on the phone with TC @ NextGen Motorsports, when TC had me talk to his shop guy Paul when I was looking for new rods for my beta II... Paul asked why I was having the problems, I told him the whole story and the first question asked to me was "is this a GUDE kit ???" -- I was like "whoa, ya" -- then Paul explained that he has seen SEVERAL Ford Focus's with GUDE kits having the same over boosting and boost creep problems... basically they had to remake all of the piping and re-deisng the down pipe... and in the mist of doing all that they basically just made a whole new kit for the car...
So in conclusion...
If you want a small turbo, go with a alpine kit...
If you want something your going to be proud of... go custom and find a shop that knows what in the hell they are doing...
But don't buy GUDE...
This coming from the person who owned the first production kit for the beta II ;)
Edit:
And yes they are crappy people to deal with... I had to threaten them several times to fly to CA and pick up the parts myself and kept getting the run around for almost 8 months before I finally got the full turbo kit... after 5 months of waiting he sent the turbo... and told me the piping was getting chromed (which was something he told me 3 months before hand) -- After I finally got the piping he then held the injectors, I had to wait a month for them then he send them to Washington -- and I live in FL....
So... Ya... I'd never deal with GUDE again... unless I lived 2 miles down the street and could harrass them daily...
