Glad to know I'm not the only one that had this problem. That Hyundai oil filter must have had two gaskets. Whenever I do an oil change, I always check the old filter to see if the gasket is attached. And mine was when I did my oil change.

A day later there was a tapping sound coming from the motor. I took it to the dealer who said I need to use Hyundai's oil filter, not a FRAM one. They said my lifters weren't receiving enough oil pressure.

I did the oil change three days later. The oil change went off without a hitch. A couple of hours later, I'm going to dinner with my wife, and the motor starts hesitating and then starts grinding really loud. I pull into the parking lot and I see the motor smoking, 2 quarts of oil on the ground. I drove home with no oil in the motor, luckily it was only 2 miles, and I did so very slowly and carefully. Then I had to do another oil change, which pissed my off. One 15 dollar oil change turned into 2 15 dollar oil changes. I decided to look carefully at where the oil filter sits, and lo and behold, there's two gaskets sitting there. Well, I removed the old one and got a good tight seal on the newest oil filter. The noise was still there.

I decided I would take into the dealer that following Teusday. On the way to the dealer, no more than 3 miles away, I lost all compression, the motor starting making a very loud clanking and tapping noise (like when I lost all the oil two days before), and then it happened:

I PUT A ROD THROUGH MY BLOCK AND OIL PAN... I said to myself, HOLY SH.T!!! Now what am I gonna do.

Luckily, Hyundai said they'd replaced my block with a new one, but in the future to only use Hyundai oil filters. I get my car back on 11/22, and damn if it hasn't been one hell of a wait.

You drove your car with no oil in it and they still offered to change the block for you? Man, what a bunch of softies.

They don't know the car was driven with no oil.

They f'ed up when the car was in there the first time. The problem wasn't oil restriction to the lifters, that was just a half-*** excuse they came up with due to them looking in the engine bay and seeing an oil filter that wasn't Hyundai.

When I talked to them the first time, they'd fixed the service recall and were about to check out my tapping problem. A half-hour later, they called me and told me in was my after market oil filter starving the lifters for oil.

You can't possibly diagnose a problem as obscure as "tapping coming from the engine" in a half an hour. It isn't possible.

One look in the engine bay was all it took for them to say, okay it's your problem due to the aftermarket oil filter.

That's one of the few problems I have with Hyundai as a company. They'll sell you a 12,000 dollar car, give you a long warranty, and then be picky over what they'll fix and what they won't.
