How many belts are there in the engine?

Apparently 4? I took the car in for an inspection and such today, and they said that the AC belt, powerstearing, and alternator belt were getting ready to break.

So yea, is there honestly 4+ more belts in the engine?

they aren't talking about the timing belt.

there are belts (on my 01 gls) on the left side of the engine. each component has it's own belt, but they are all together and turned by the same thing. if they are believed to be about to break, you can get each of those from advance auto or somewhere if you want to do it yourself.

There are 4 total belts.

1. Timing belt. (hiden behind timing belt cover)
2. A/c belt (goes around crank and water pump and back to a/c compressor)
3. Alternator (Goes around crank and alternator)
4. Power Steering Belt (Goes around water pump and PS pump pulley).

Thants It I think :)

The hardest one to change is the timing belt. You don't have to change that until 60,000 miles.

The rest can be changed whenever they start to look bad, or 30,000 miles to be on the safe side.
