I really can't wait to install these damn it :(

Hehe, to think I was one of the first like 10 people that got one of the kits from you and I still haven't installed it... well, their installed in the headlights, just I haven't had the car to install the headlights on the car :( :(

Anyhow, some of the best looking made HID kit's I've yet to see (and I've gone through two previous kits) -- Can't wait to see em installed on my car ;)

... you can't be serious in asking that, can you ?

incase you were serious...

Here's a HID FAQ that will explain the difference between HID Lamps and regular bulbs...

The Halo H7 kit I have is a direct plug'n'play --- I'll let Uneek answer your other Q. ;) lol

i know the HID is much better quality. it says it lasts 3-5 times as long as conventional bulbs, but i can buy like 10 sets on ebay for the same price. the light color looks the same to me. i looked into this before, and i know its expensive.

11-26-2005, 12:56 PM
it's not about longetivity... or color...
like you said, it's about high quality. with those cheap white e bay bulbs, you may be able to get by but these will really lighten up the road. have you actually driven a car with HIDs?? you really wouldn't compare those two if you did.

anyways, it's good to know that these are available. you said these are direct plug and play... how hard is it to install?? and where would you place the ballast??

Keyan
11-26-2005, 01:35 PM
I am definatly 100% getting these for christmas.

From a tuners standpoint, which color is "better"?

6000k or 8000k?

I want that white with a tint of blue and I want good sight.

so 6000k, right?

labmixz
11-26-2005, 03:02 PM
8000k look like lexus/bmw for the most part... (ie: nice slight blue... awesome look)

$254.99 plus shipping For 6k, 8k, 10k
$264.99 plus shipping For 3k

I know his pricing for the 6k / 8k / 10k are the same... ;)

Thanks for stepping in and answering some questions for me while I am away labmixz. Appreciate it.

what about the old Elantras that have the high and low built into them?
They will lose their highbeams. But take my word for it, they won't miss them one bit.

so what are the advantages to this kit rather than the $20 bulbs on ebay?
You can't even really compare the two. Its like asking, "Whats the difference between a tugboat and a battleship?" Put you car next to a car with HIDs installed and you'll see the difference yourself.

how hard is it to install?? and where would you place the ballast??

Yes I include installation instructions. But installation is so straight forward and simple, you probably won't even use them.

Just to let you all know. I sell this kit in many different forums. You can see pics of the kit installed in many of them.

Uneek, in regards do the HID kit, will the temperature from the new kit melt the headlight plastic housing. Ive heard of this happening, is this true?

Tricked
11-28-2005, 06:37 PM
There should not be any problems with overheating and melting anything. The wattage of the HID bulbs is actually 35 watts compared to 55 watts stock. They burn cooler and put out more light....can't ask for anything better than that.

Uneek, in regards do the HID kit, will the temperature from the new kit melt the headlight plastic housing. Ive heard of this happening, is this true?

Headlight plastic housing only melts when you use the cheap $20 "Super bright" bulbs that you see on ebay. Trust me I know, this happened to me on my old chevy cavalier.

HID bulbs DO NOT melt wire harnesses. They are actually using less wattage than your stock halogen bulbs, therefore less heat.

Are these HID conversion kit removable after installing?
I guess my question, is does it have a resale value???
Or is it like once u install it, its urs forever?

Uneek
12-04-2005, 07:42 PM
Mostly all the H4 bulbs that I have seen have a shield that is shorter than the entire length of the bulb because the sheild only needs to cover the center area of the bulb where the intensity of the light is at its brightest.

The kit is extremely easy to install and remove. You don't have to modify your car in order to make this kit work. As such, YES this kit is removable and has resale value.

do you also sell the projector? I'm pretty sure it isnt necessary for HID. The projector just lowers the possibility of blinding people w/ the glare, correct?

and would i need to beef up my alternator/battery if i got these? currently i have these power draining mods (lol):

400w RMS Amplifier running 2 subs
reverse glow gauges
12v cig. lighter neon (dont turn it on that often)

i just wanna make sure that i dont have to get a voltage stabilizer, better battery and whatnot. i dont want my headlights to dim whenever my sub hits, kinda like they do right now even with my ground kit. they dont dim a whole lot right now.. only when i blast it.. but i dont want the HID kit to do it on low volume

CTele02
12-05-2005, 02:47 AM
It says that HID linked site:
CAUTION: Ultraviolet, visible, and infrared radiation is emitted from metal halide lamps. Possible skin or eye irritation can result from exposures exceeding 15 minutes. Do not stare at exposed lamp in operation. During operation, the bulb should be enclosed in a housing to prevent injury. Do not remove bulb from equipment until it has cooled. Never handle the bulb when it is operating!
Can you explain this? Is this only something to worry about only in installation when you have to touch the bulbs to install?

Uneek
12-05-2005, 02:56 AM
PAKI

I don't sell projector conversions, and you're right about not needing them for the kit to work properly.
Here's some good news! The HID's actually draw LESS power than your stock halogen bulbs and will not dim when your bass hits.

CTele02

Thats just some legal stuff that has to be said to keep some dork from staring directly at a lit bulb for a long time and then trying to sue for retinal damage. kinda like how McDonalds puts warnings on their coffee cups.
Just common sense. Don't touch a bulb when its on, you'll get burned. Don't stare directly at a bright light, you'll go blind.

paki
12-05-2005, 03:04 AM
but what about blinding others? :) would i need a projector to stop that? or would this not blind someone during normal operation

EXAMPLE: will they flash their high beams at me to turn mine down? CTele02 is giving me **** about it lol

QuickSilverGT
12-05-2005, 12:15 PM
off topic i know... but the reason mcdonalds got sued for the coffee was because it was served so much hotter than everyone elses. They did this because they offered free refills. The hotter it is, the more time needed for it to become drinkable, and the less money mcdonals has to shell out.

Anyways, are there any modifications needed to be made to the stock housing for these to fit?

DAILLESTWUN
12-05-2005, 12:32 PM
from what I believe there isn't any modification necessary. It plugs right where your old H7 does and mounts exactly the same as well. The only thing you need to do is place the ballast somewhere with zip ties or something...

ericbeck,

Check your local laws but pretty much universally yes they can because it's not factory stock. However, I'd treat it as you would front tinted windows...or at least like I do, the cops mostly won't touch you unless you're already doing something stupid to begin with. Or unless like when I got popped for tint, the cop was just an *** and had nothing better to do than stand on the street corner and walk to cars to pull them over for stupid crap. =)

ericbeck
12-05-2005, 06:05 PM
But I dun understand
How come if the car comes in stock with HID, the cops dont give u trouble but if its an aftermarket... they do
its the exact same hid, no???
i mean i guess the reflector kewlkat was talking about might make the diff but still.... the cops dont know that much about cars to determine that~!
I think its BS, simply favoring the rich over the average...

DAILLESTWUN

Because stock HID doesn't blind the crap out of people. If your car comes factory stock with HID, there's generally an auto-leveler that helps keep its aim proper and level. Not to mention that their headlight housings were designed with HID in mind, so there's not as much glare as you would get with an aftermarket HID conversion kit.

Uneek
12-05-2005, 07:03 PM
The thing of it is. Even if you do get pulled over it will probably be for something more serious like running a red light or speeding. Be smart, turn your headlights off at that point.

If for some reason they stop you just for your lights, it'll should just be a fix it ticket ($10 fine in CA). In that case, removing the HIDs and putting your stock bulbs back on is as easy as 1-2-3.

KEYAN
I'll have a tracking number for you tomorrow. My brothers wife is giving birth to a baby today and i'm here in the hospital with my laptop, so needless to say im not shipping anything out today.

With regards to the glare, shouldnt it be the same or near to stock? Yes I know the HID system is much brighter but still aimed properly shoudnt be blinding.

BTW how long does it take for me to receive my HID's once you get payment from me? and also, i heard that the higher you go ie. 6000k, 8000k, etc. the more blu it is and then to purple but I heard it's not as bright. the lower #'s are actually brighter. Is that true?? I just want to know which one I should get. I was thinking about 10000k cuz I want it to be blueish or would 8000k still be a nice blueish color??

I can answer some of your questions
It is true that the higher the number, more blue it is, but at the same time u lose some brightness
So, 6000k would be an ideal white light (brightesT)
8000k is a bluish tint
10000k would be very blue
and 12000k, as u can see, would be purple (ugly in my opinion)

ok so now i'm undecided on whether to get an 8000k or 10000k. I want them nice an dblue but not too much that it will attract the cops attention. then again there are many cars in miami with blue *** lights. Are there any stock cars that the 10000k's can be compared to. And although the 10000k's aren't as bright as the 8000k's i'm sure it's still a lot brighter than reguler xenon bulbs and stuff right?

I have a question though....

Can someone tell me what the actual length of the bulb is for the H7 kit?

I'm trying to build a retrofit H7 projector housing for these on the Elantra. I know the Valeo H7 from the audi vehicles are said to be good, but I have yet to find detailed dimensions for them. I saw a few owners here that have retrofitted their vehicles, but I could never find any that were specific H7s. Please let me know if anyone has any info to share on this. Maybe I should start a new thread for this....

I'm sure it's just a rebased D2S bulb. If you're going to do a retrofit, why would you want to do an H7 projector retro? Are you getting these projectors for free or something? It doesn't seem worth all the hassle and trouble.

ok so now i'm undecided on whether to get an 8000k or 10000k. I want them nice an dblue but not too much that it will attract the cops attention. then again there are many cars in miami with blue *** lights. Are there any stock cars that the 10000k's can be compared to. And although the 10000k's aren't as bright as the 8000k's i'm sure it's still a lot brighter than reguler xenon bulbs and stuff right?

ok bringing back an old quote
i am about to buy this HID kit and really really cant decide between 8000k and 10000k...
u said BMW/Acura have 8000k look, is there a stock car that i can compare to 10000k??? i heard from someone that VW GTI comes with such light but im not sure
where I live, there are a lot of bmw's, acura's, and benz (too many)
so i wanna have headlights that are distinguishable from theirs, aka i need blueeeeeee~!
But at the same time, I dont wanna run into trouble with 5-0
I've already checked out threads on 6000k and 8000k but cant really tell with distorted camera image
so in short, what can i compare 10000k to? would u recommend or no???

paki
12-21-2005, 01:36 AM
i have the 8k.. they are a bluish white, but much whiter than most of the BMW's i've seen. The light's color is the same, just the actual blue in the headlight is the difference. idk if thats understandable.

a proper retrofit with the 8k would get you a BMW-esque effect.. more than likely

with just these HID's, no retrofit, i'd say go with 10k if you're looking for the BMW effect. It might be a little bit bluer/purple than the BMW's, but it'll be the closest you can get to it.

but since you're looking to be different.. 8k. im pretty happy with it.. ill see if i can get a really good picture of the blue in the headlight for you.. just remind me if i dont do it tomorrow lol

DAILLESTWUN
12-21-2005, 08:21 AM
Honestly, my 8000k's are bluer than most cars i've seen on the street. With stock HID's. Now you got those that have those ultra blue lights that are blue as fuk. Not the 8000k's. I thought it was similar to my girl's Audi A4 but hers look kinda yellowish next to mine as do a lot of other cars out there. So basically, it's got some nice blue tones to it, but I wouldn't say it's really blue...hope this helps... ;)

hellz no, when i was in NYC, they were all over the place.

Just because they're all over the place doesn't make it legal.

Most of the aftermarket HID kits you will buy will usually state that it's for "Off Road Purposes Only" because in most states they aren't legal.

Your chances of getting caught or pulled over is a different story. A lot of new cars sold today come with the xenon/HID factory headlights. Most cops and most people wouldn't know if your make/model had the option for factory HID so your chances of being pulled over is slim unless your lights were excessively blinding to other drivers or the cop really wanted to be a dick.

The Halo H7 kit I have is a direct plug'n'play --- I'll let Uneek answer your other Q. ;) lol

here is my knowledge from doing an upgrade to a hid kit myself. All these kits say they are plug and play and thats true you can plug them in and they will work. However they dont tell you that you should use an additional Harness to keep the amps within stock range when hid lights start-up.

Here are some things that you should be aware of if you dont buy this harness.
- You may kill your alt in due time

- You will shorten the life of the kit you bought (250- 600 dollars wasted) by fusing it out... and dont believe this b.s. about built in special fuses that means nothing.

- I know alot of people bought these cars for the warrenty... These can kill you headlight harness on either sides or both sides without the additional harness.

Some benifits.....

- Longer Life ( you should get about 5 years out of the bulbs)

- Brighter lights ( yes if you have a better power source at start-up it makes a difference)

- Quicker start-up time ( since you will have 2 power sources)

- Longer kit life ....besides protecting the bulbs it will make the kit work far less in the start up process.

I talk from witnessing my friends car have issues... no it was not a hyundia however it did have a $450 hid kit on it that wasnt crap. Everything thing was fine till about 5 months into it; first one side wouldnt fire up when it got really cold. Then summer came still the same problem; very angry he complained to the company which told him he should have bought the heavy duty relay harness . At that point it was to late ,by the time he got the harness to fix the problem with the one headlight he learned he burned out his stock harness by trying to pull to many amps at one time.

Just because they're all over the place doesn't make it legal.

Most of the aftermarket HID kits you will buy will usually state that it's for "Off Road Purposes Only" because in most states they aren't legal.

Your chances of getting caught or pulled over is a different story. A lot of new cars sold today come with the xenon/HID factory headlights. his got a point ^^^^ when i got pulled over to weeks ago with my 6k kit the cop took a look and i guess decided that they were stock :D

im not saying that these kits are bad.... thats not the case infact i say buy them. Good deal and good warrenty but get the harness. If you need more information on the heavy duty hid harness let me know or you can also search over on Newtiburon.com and find the same information as ive posted.

is the 10k any brighter than the 8k setup? or is that just the color?

Morgasm69you
07-23-2006, 06:58 PM
10k will be more violet than blue in comparison to the 8k...the purpler you go, the less you're gonna see, but the more "uneek" it will look :)

BlackElantraGT
07-23-2006, 07:37 PM
I wouldn't get anything above 6000K. The color temperature is used only to describe the color of the light in the visible color spectrum. Many people mistakenly think that the higher the Kelvins, the brighter it is.

Once you start moving into the 8K spectrum and above, it'll start looking more purple. Getting a system with that light spectrum would be a waste of money because you're destroying the whole purpose of the HID system itself, which is to make it easier for you to see at night.

Also, another thing to keep in mind is that many people purchase these kits, especially the higher Kelvin kits, thinking their car will look like an Audi or Beamer. Most OEM HID bulbs are actually between 4100-4300K. That will produce the most lumens to light up the road. The reason why it looks purple when you see an oncoming car or in your rear view mirror is because those OEM HID systems are housed in high-quality projectors that have a sharp cutoff, elminating glare or keeping it to the minimum for other drivers on the road. Since the projectors throw the light pattern onto the ground ahead of the car, when these high end cars with OEM HIDs hit a bump in the road, you're seeing some light escape from the projector lens. So in actuality, these headlights produce pure white light, but since white light contains all the colors of the visible spectrum, it's almost like shining a light through a prizm, where you end up seeing all the colors of the rainbow.

Having purple lights not only will give you less light to see at night, but you still won't acheive the look you're going for.

sorry im just getting into this thread and i saw this-

HID doesn't just provide color, it provides brighter, more intense lighting. take a look at pictures if you don't believe me.. look at true HID setups. and as far as it changing to white, the only thing that may be able to explain that is that you're viewing the light through a projector housing

Why not have that nice aftermarket look with a correct cut off inside the headlight housing as well as on the road!

Let it be known that most police officers now have gone through a Dot course. If you have a reflector housing and no cut off like the picture above you can be cited and fined up to 500 dollars... plus a fix it ticket of 10-25 dollars on top of that....

I have run out of HALO kits and don't have an ETA for when I will have them again, if ever.

I am substituting any new orders with the ONEX kit (pics on page 1). It is the SAME exact quality and parts as the HALO kit, just with a different brand name. They are both made in the same factory with the same parts.

If you order replacement bulbs or ballasts they will work just fine with your HALO kit.

I will still offer a one year warranty. All customers are allowed to use the kit for 7 days and if you don't like it you can return it for a full refund (including shipping).

Sorry for the sudden change, it was unexpected.

Thanks!! like I said, the pics do it no justice. The one at night show's more of the color it produces, but it has glare due to the crappy pic. What I love about the Mag's headlight's is that it produces a great cut-off as you can see.

I'm glad I didn't go for the 10000K. Jut because that was not the look I was going for since my car is blue. Your's look great ModX!!!

Honestly, I had a chance to get a plug and play kit proabably just like Uneek's for about a little over $100 shipped, but Uneek is great when it comes to customer service. I waited just to save a few extra bucks to purchase from him. He has quality products and service.3

BTW, here are pics of my old ride with the HID kit from Uneek. (So the newbs could see) I took these a little less than a year ago. Believe it or not, I miss my Elantra...Fordfasterr & SED put so much time and work into it. lol It had sentimental value....

You're right my prices are slightly higher than some other kits you can find, but you're also right about my high standards when it comes to customer service. I always go the extra mile for every customer.
