Well my recent, and not too gentle, brush with a Galloper has proven that yes, there are indeed body shops in Korea. Up until now I was not sure they existed as it seems that everyone else was driving around with dented beaters.

I went to check on my car today, and it was all preped for painting. So far so good.

Now I spend a few hours waxing the car and then days getting most of the wax off the unpainted mouldings. To me they look cheap and they always looks dirty even when the car was clean. I asked the guy how much they'd charge me to paint them. At first he said "service". Which in Korean means free of charge. Once I made it clear I wanted all of them done not just the new ones he explained they have to pull off the old ones and get all new ones etc. I said "Yes, yes, but how much?"
"150,000 won"

That's less than $150 American, which to me seems like a deal for all new mouldings, paint and labour. I am seriously considering it. I pick up the car tomorrow, and I'll see what kind of a job they do with the actual painting and color matching.

My wife doesn't like the idea, but she doesn't like anything I do with the car. :)

What do you think? Is 150 grand reasonable for that or is dirty old black better?

To tell you the truth, thats the only reason I got a gls model.I dont like the black moulding.I would get them painted, and for that price, you aint going to get a better price I dont think

That price is excellent. If you want body-color side mouldings, then do it. I personally prefer the black matte mouldings, though.

You could always get them painted black and keep the look while doing away with the wax problems. :)
