Ok, here we go. I ordered this spoiler off of ebay for $180 including shipping from hong kong.

ok, well I took it out of the box and it came in 3 peices. the two sides and the center. First thing I did was took the driver side peice and line it up to see if it has a remote chance of fitting.

sweet! looks good so far! But wait, what's that plate with the 2 screws in it? Well it's the plate that hides the holes to screw it all together, that's what.

hmm. doesn't seem perfect. But it is handmade. Let me screw this thing together and see how it sits.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v162/Keyan/EXD05/spoiler8.jpg

HOTNESS! err. but wait. something doesn't look right.

WTF? when one "leg" of the spoiler is down the other side doesn't sit flat. Goddamnit. The holes that are used to screw it all together weren't drilled correctly. DAMNIT. Hmm. And it doesn't really sit correct on itself either.

make your own decisions on this one. simple mistakes that make it not-so-good quality but it can look amazing when the body shop is done with it in the spring. oh and here's one more pic showing it through the rear-view mirror.

I give it a 6/10

ahhhh
Keyan, u know i want this spoiler badddd
but now im afraid about quality
how hard do u think it would be to correct all the "faultiness" and paint it and install it by the body shop???

Keyan

I think all it will need is some holes redrilled, on the passenger side vertical peice.

I will 100% recommend to have it bodyshop installed for smoothing everything out.

Plus if you buy one it might have been constructed better than the one I got.

hmm alright i think im def gonna buy it
i doubt the quality would be much better... but i think it looks freaking awesome
unfortunately, i have the lip spoiler and it already has holes in the middle of the trunk... i am gonna have to get that patched up by the body shop as well
Anyways, thanks for being the "guinea" pig, now I can buy this product as well

Looks good Keyan. Nice little write up as well. I'm glad to see people taking chances on things that others don't have yet.

I think as long as the L and R "legs" are the same and test fit okay, and the wing isn't twisted, then you should be able to straighten it out alright. I like it, but it's too big for me too...

5) Clear-lense KDM headlights

ericbeck

how did the Tib ultrasports work out?

lol i haven't actually installed them
I kinda wanted to install them myself and so far, i have been busy
Im hoping to rent a couple tools next week and install it in my garage with a friend
The struts themselves actually look nice, he said he only had about 12,000 miles on them and it seems like that's true (no rust, no damage)
Right now, I am overwhelmed with applying to colleges (about 14 colleges)

ericbeck

LoL i did it
I bought the spoiler and paid for it~! (around 150 including shipping)
I am so excited, I will probably get it installed asap

Ok I got the spoiler today and I assembled it to see if I have the same problem as Keyan
Fortunately, mine seems to fit well and it does seem to stand on its own (well it tilts backwards since the top is heavy so I had to lean it against my bed to take the pic)
left and right side are equally balanced
Here are some pics

For those of you with XD2 who want a big spoiler, u should def look into this
Now I am abouts to start another thread on how to paint this...

KeWLKaT
12-18-2005, 11:23 AM
PLEASE get it painted professionally man

ilanpro
12-18-2005, 11:28 AM
Nice, Make sure to get it prept and painted by a pro, you can probably do the grille and lids at the same time make sure they use a flex agent on the lids

evan938
12-18-2005, 11:28 AM
yep. if it was somethign small and un noticeable (like when ilan did the tail light covers at the top) i would say go ahead, but youll never be able to get that paint to match on your own.

Keyan
12-18-2005, 12:13 PM
Hmm. The sides look differently designed. weird.

ericbeck
12-18-2005, 12:30 PM
are you guys serious???
painting this spoiler is that difficult???
i mean, if its a factor of time consumption, there isn't a problem because after Jan 1st, i have all the time in the world
however, if it's about workmanship, I actually planned on talking to one of my friend's uncles who works at a body shop and ask him to give me detailed instructions
i dont want him to paint mine because 1. he's booked for the next couple months 2. he will have to overcharge me because he only works there, he doesn't own it
anyways, i am willing to work assiduously to sand it down, put primer, put multiple coats of paint, put clear coat, etc
But i assume that u guys will still recommend a professional shop to paint it
so if so, how much should i expect to pay? just to paint? what about with installation? I did some search and people seemed to pay from $100 to 300

Btw, Keyan, u said sides seemed to be different?
how so, could u elaborate???? if you want, i can take more pics and we can compare the specifics~! maybe one of our spoilers is a defect

Keyan
12-18-2005, 12:51 PM
No, not a defect. Hand made. Look on the first page of one of the pictures of the spoiler from "behind".

Ok then look at yours from "behind"

They look a little bit different.

its not a matter of painting it that will be the biggest problem, it will be getting the paint to match. paint fades, sunlight, heat, etc etc, and even if you were to buy paint from the dealership, it probably wont match as well. take it to a shop, pay 100-150 to get it painted to match your car
