Wow, I bought a Hyundai air filter of the GT and it had the hardest time fitting. I compared it to the old one and the rubber part is about 1/8 in taller. That made it almost impossible to get in. The part number on the filter is exactly the same.
I had to put the air filter up against the top part then drop the box and filter together onto the bottom part for it to fit. It would not fit over the rubber piece. Anybody else run into this?
hm i've never run into that.. but i do have a cold air now. Maybe it comes in two diff sizes? I'd call the dealer and ask them about it

i had the oposite problem. when i replaced the OEM air filter @ 30k i noticed the gasket was a completely different shape and thickness, even though it was OEM. it was thinner and it actually fit pretty loosely. i was kind of pissed that an OEM part would fit so poorly (even on the original one with the thivker gasket there were signs of dirt blow-by on parts some areas of the gasket!!!) i had to run a piece of foam gasketing around it to make sure it fit nice and snug.

yeah, and hydrolock my engine like the rest of you!!!
i've said it before and i'll say it again... if you have a CAI you are just begging to suck water in at some point. and the next thread i see where someone complains about getting water in their system, there will be no sympathy from this guy. i've seen it happen too many times.
thanks, i'll stick with stock... :D
short ram = no hyrdrolock.. plus its a tiiiiiiiny bit more performance :)

I had the same problem with the OEM hyundai filter and an cheap aftermarket one, i got it to fit but it was hard to push the tabs of the top piece of the filter top into the slots on the bottom filter holder. as for a aftermarket intake i had it all and i got sick of the noise it makes and with the aftermarket intake it just makes me beat on my car so i can feel the difference.

ah, this old fart likes the sound of a turbo, but a CAI on a small-displacement 4-banger just sounds like a fart can IMHO... sorry no offense to people here who have an SRI, but i can tell anytime a rice mobile drives down my street with one, and it aint sophisticated. a turbo, on the other hand...
