would it be cheaper to buy an already painted spoiler and have it installed or a non painted one?

it would cost about the same, but you might save a few more bucks having one prepainted and shipped and just pay to have it installed. though there are DIYs around on how to do it yourself that dont seem to be too hard, just time consuming, and may need to have the help of a few others

if you wanna do it yourself and follow a DIY then go for it. my car came with a spolier and if it didnt i dont think i would put one on myself because you need to drill holes in your trunk to put the spoiler on and i would be nervous of screwing up.

good point. drilling into the actually body scares the crapolla out of me.. but ill have to do it when i get mine shortly.... how much is the average to get a wing painted by a body shop anyways?

It would generally cost you a little more to have it pre-painted. There are pros/cons to both, but the main reason why someone wouldn't want it pre-painted is that there's a possiblity that your spoiler will get scratched during shipment and that the color might be off from your actual car.
I bought mine unpainted and to this day, it's still sitting in the garage. If it was painted, I probably would have had it installed by now.

I bought a painted one, and installed it myself. As long as you get it from a reputable dealer, the paint should match. I had to supply the paint color code for my car, and it arrived dead-on the color it needed to be. Don't be too scared about installing it - it will be easiest if you have 1-2 other people to help you. Follow the DIY I made in the DIY section, and you shouldn't have many problems (unless you keep dropping the bolts into the trunk-lid, like I did.

I would go with painted. I got mine from SpoilerDepot and it looks great and matches the car perfectly. Like BlackElantraGT said, if you don't get it painted you might become lazy and never put it on.

^^^LOL. I can't beleive YOU said that James. Even if you do get a painted one, you might become lazy and wait 6 months to install it.
EDIT- How did I know you'd say something about me?

pre-painted seems like an easier route but I wonder if it's a serious color difference when you install it on your car? I am thinking about a lip spoiler so it would be flush w/the car and worry if it's pre-painted that it might be a brighter white than my car.

As I said, as long as you're not getting it from some guy on the corner, the spoiler should be painted with the proper paint code - if it isn't, send it back. The only thing you might have to worry about is your paint being sun-faded, depending on how long you've had the car. Probably isn't a big deal with white though.
